Default Tint

I have been thinking about doing a light tint on my car. Just wondering what a good price would be. Do they charge more for a darker tint or is it the same price no matter how dark you go?

normally its the same price for any tint but you have to pay in cash if you choose limo tint or darker. dont pay more than $100. i paid $50. just ask around your area and see what people say about what places to go to and where not to go.

Just ask around, the black mustang def. looks a lot better with tint. Keep it legal on the black car though as cops like to stop them, its a bloody expensive ticket too. I paid 100 bucks with a long warranty from the people said were best around here

damn 100 bucks for all 5 windows. in california i paid with a 1/8th and 100 bucks. here in dover i had to pay 90 bucks just for them to remove and put 15% on my side windows. for new york i bet you will see prices from 150 200. i know that is a more common price among most forum people.

I know its about $175 here for 3m lifetime warranty tint in 25%(legal limit). The price shouldnt differ at all from 5% to 50% or something, what your mostly paying for is labor.

i can't believe you all are getting your windows tinted for $100.

i looked up places in the phone book around here and called about 5 places. the cheapest was around $160 up to about $300.

i'm going with a place that will charge about $190 for lifetime warranty.

State of Ohio: Anything darker than 50% on driver/passanger side windows illegal.

I paid 250 to have my professionally done 20% all the way around, lifetime warranty.

Since I got my driver/passanger side darker than legal I had to pay 50 dollars more. So for another 50 I could go as dark as I want, or save 50 bux and get 50% on the driver/passanger

in the seattle area, unfortunately prices run from 225-260, for lifetime warranty and 20% tint. i've been thinking of doing the Llumar precuts on mine.

In NY you can go 70%. Do you think that is too dark. What do you think is a tasteful amount to go without looking tacky.

I really wouldnt go above 45%....it'll get really dark in there. I think 35 or 40 would be your best bet. Also I'd advise against doing it yourself as the rear windsheid is a bad curve with really tight access that makes it difficult to get a neat job done. As well as that, the black dimples on the glass make it very difficult to stick the film down - its best to have the professionals do it if you want it to last...plus it is their responsibility instead of yours if it doesn't!

I paid $180 (that was for removal and reapply on all 5 windows).

I have 5% on the back 3 and windshield strip, and 20% on the front windows. 30% is legal in Ga, but aren't many cops that care enough to pull you over for it.

Here's how it looks.

thats because you live in florida where its hot all the time. all of the southern states its usually cheaper. for the states that have limits tint shops will charge a arm and leg.

we have limits down here too. i dont remember what percentage is considered illegal but we do have limits. all im saying is tint is cheap, very very cheap. these places are charging you guys hundreds just to put it on and its really not that hard... anyone here could do their tint themselves. taking old tint off isnt much fun so i'd leave that to someone else, but to put it on is easy.

I got mine done last summer and I know the back 3 windows can be as dark as 15%, whereas the passenger/driver side can be as low as 25% or somethin. I got 15% all around and have yet to be pulled over. Really, the chances of getting pulled over for that is pretty low. Cops are usually either not paying attention or watching people actually driving. Unless one day you happen to drive by a dick cop who wants to write a ticket. A solution to that is just roll your windows down when one drives in the lane next to you.

As for a comment earlier about 45% making it too dark inside...you must not have ever seen 15 or 20% because I see just fine at night inside and it's no darker(maybe a TINY bit) inside than it was before tint.

and I paid 150 for 15% and lifetime. Floppy got a kickass deal, but don't hold out until you find a job for $50... that's just a littel extreme. My advice, don't go any higher than 200, but if you have to pay 200, do it. It's worth it.

i dont know what percentage mine is.. it's limo tint. you cant see in at all from the outside. i couldnt imagine paying more than $100... i thought that would be a ripoff.. mine came with a lifetime transferable warranty, i think the brand is llumar or something like that. $200? fug that. if somebody told me it was $200 to tint the windows on a mustang (which arent that big) i'd probably start laughing and walk right back out. my explorer cost me $80, its a 4 door 2000 explorer which has 7 large windows and the front windshield strip. my moms hummer cost $80 also. i dunno, thats just a lot of money for tint.
