Choose My Blower
Well, I have decided to drop in a blower over the winter. At least 'till my wife steals my money.
I am limiting my options to those in the poll. I am not interested ina twin screw like a KB due to cost and a few other factors. I would like to put down around 390 - 400 hp if possible with the stock headers and basically no other work done to the car then what is already on it.
I also do not wish to get an after-cooler unless someone can make some good arguements. Why? Because of cost mostly and that I want to keep the power to 400 hp or less due to engine life and safety issues.
I also will either be keeping my nitrous or going to methanol injection for those moments when I wan a little extract cooling.

too bad whipple chargers only work on cobras....
theres no chance, at all of hitting 390-400 with out an intercooler and/or headers
i vote procharger, self contained oil system = no tapping of stock oil pan

i didnt read the other posts. but i put in a mongoose kit with a paxton a/a intercooler with a 3.1 pulley. the man himself tuned me up since i drove back to delaware from california. im glad i did because we found out my car needed a KB B.A.P because i was making too much power up top and fuel pump couldnt keep up. my setup cost about as much as a KB 9psi kit. if my car were a manual i would have 430-440 rwhp. before the BAP went on i had 408rwhp. with stock headers and stock H pipe... insane i know. they said i have a factory freak.
edit i just read some of the other posts. ok with 99-2000 gt's we can run more timing (safer) then 01+ gt's. we have lower compression. if you dont run a a/a or aftercooler then take off about 30-40 horsepower, no biggy really you can make it up with the 25-50 shot of nitro. tapping the hole was not that bad i have no leaks at all and i didnt use leak lock like a retard will be doing that this weekend when i change the oil. if you get the procharger it has to come off every 5k miles to change the oil. my friend has one. mine has to come off when i change belts, same with procharger. paxton units you dont have to worry about taking it off for any reason, unless you want too.

You can make the same power at the same boost with the vortech as with the procharger with 2 core intercooler. The vortech blower is much more efficient and much more dependable.
If you want to push some extra power then add meth injection.
I know the article is from vortech but it has some interesting information.

can you tell me why, other than cost, you dont want a kenne bell...they kick ***, self contained oil, replace your stock intake manifold, so no need for a bullit intake, wayyyy less belt problems with KBs, a guy on MPH with a saleen ( refer to hood thread, with cowl hood) has a KB on his daily driver, 400 rwhp, drives it every day, is reliable and fun

Wish i would have got the 2.2. Only thing i dont like about Procharger is the idler pulley between the blower and the altenator. The offset bracket that holds the pulley in place is made of aluminum and its very easy to strip the threads. I had this problem when i had to replace the altenator.

Speed Costs - how fast u wanna go?
Getting a cobra would be a waste of money, for alot less than trading out you can build and blow your GT - even just blow it and smoke 03+ cobras even with pullies in most cases. The T-trim is another varient of their supercharger much like procharger's D-1sc and F series, again the procharger produces more power in each class than any other blower. Again the KB is a good blower, but not the best for 1/4 times - its much better suited for 1/8 times - more of a street drag blower for having fun spanking @ss to 60 or so - the advantage of the KB is that it hits full boost at 2500 rpm but it loses that edge quickly as other blowers win out in the upper range - dont be fooled to get the power KB promises you must have a built motor and extensive mods - especially for the 2.2 - which if you were to forge your GT for about $2-2.5K you would blow it out of the water pushing 650 - 750 hp easily. When all costs are considered the procharger is cheaper and faster than all others - thats not to knock the others they are great - they are fast but I'm a bottom dollar type of guy and the bang for the buck sits with procharger bar none.

i bought my gt 4 years ago for 17k not including the taxes and license fees. so out the door it was 19k and i just spent 5800 for my vortech stuff which brings me to 24k. with 24k now you can have a used 03 cobra that makes as much power as i do. and if you spent the 4-6k for a kb 2.2 you would get over 600 horses to the wheels without haveing to get a built block or changing your fuel system again.
this guy has a lot of money invested to his gt so i know hes gonna keep it. im gonna keep mine and keep building it. get the cheapest one.

Rethink your stragedy
For 24k you can a 800+ hp mustang if you wanted to - and even less than that- I bought an 03 gt convertible for 16,000 and with my roush body and performance mods im around 20 so in my case I will have a 500 hp roush convertible for under 25k - try getting a cobra with 8,000k miles on it for that - plus u still have to spen another 1k or two to get 500+ out of cobra - not to mention u can get a GT coupe for under 10k (99-04) then sink about 6k-8k in that and have a 600-800 hp mustang - gts are the better buy for aftermarket applications since u have to build the motor anyway and once you do that your good for 700-1000hp - so why pay the extra 10-20k for a cobra with a crappy charger - 390 up front is not good- and still have to upgrade it all over again - heck if ur real smart u'll get a 4k-5k dollar v-6 coupe build the motor and such for that- and around 15k you'd have one f the sickest mustangs in your area garenteed!

Get the stage 2 not the H.O.
The p1sc-2 is the one that comes with the stage 2 package - not the H.O. package - I only know wut the procharger guy said at the corvette forum so that where I get my info from - and they stated that it was a re-design - this makes sense bc the addition one 1 more core to the intercooler doesnt warrant a $400 increase - go to rpmoutlet.com or ebay they have the stage 2 kits avaible with all the goodies need to install the whole deal.
