Getting a bottle filled really depends on the place you go to. It can cost as low as $15plus tax here to as high as $40 to fill a 10lb. bottle with nitrous. So it really pays to shop around and see who has the best deal. I go to this one speed shop cause I like them and they are close to my house and its $28 out the door. I do not have a clue of places in Daytona area.

Check these links out to see who has a refill station near you.

Just buy a used kit. You'll need the wiring, the hoses, the bottle, some brackets to mount it, the jets, the computer, a window switch... idk I'm just thinking off the top of my head. I probably missed something. You might want a bottle heater.

Since I assume you want a new kit from what your said, you just need a Ford efi wet nitrous kit. It will have everything else you need to add nitrous to your vehicle. You really just need to figure out what brand you want to go with thats the hard part really. Me I went with Compucar as they have a nice kit, its not a lot of $$, has lifetime warranty, and came with a full bottle and pressure gauge.

Im still undecided on what kit I'm going to go with. You gotta decide what accessaries you want as well. I'll probably end up getting a blow down tube and a bottle heater but that depends on how much $ I have at the time. Will also want some gauges to help monitor, I will be getting a fuel pressure and nitrous pressure gauge. Most kits come with everything you need from what I've seen. You'll need some colder plugs as well.

acessories - more **** to go wrong.

F'real. I mean you live in FL so a warmer probably isn't necessary.. automatic opener can malfunction.. purges are cool..w/e..

I've got a dynotune kit, works great for me..and was fairly cheap.

Yeah I've heard bad things about electric openers. Can't go wrong with a blow down tube though.

Only extra I would get is a heater and in his case a window switch since he has a manual tranny. Of course we need to swap in colder plugs and you have to have 93 in the tank when you spray. Stock tune is fine for a 75shot. You can checkout compucars website to find dealers, but they sell them on ebay for cheap. Can't go wrong with them,NOS,ZEX,NX,Nitrous works etc...

I've been looking at the Zex kit and the Compucar kit, for no other reason than the fact that it's what I've read most ppl suggesting and running. I've read that Zex is a very user friendly kit...is there such a thing? Don't see how one can be easier than the other....

Was looking Compucar's ebay page earlier, have some good prices on their. I undertand that a window switch is used for rpm control timing on the manuals, but how does an auto work?

Not trying to hijack your thread John. But figured were both nitrous newbs looking for the same answers so might as well keep it all in this thread.

i can't finda a compucar v6 kit tho

and sean the window switch is for a manual because if you miss a shift it stops it from spraying itself to 10k rpms and on an auto it shifts before it ever hits the rev limiter so no need. I found this and it has alot of good info http://www.mustangevolution.com/articles/20077/

Another thing I don't fully understand is running the 93 octane. I know you've explained it a couple of times to me but I'm still kinda lost lol. I know it's to prevent detonation while spraying but what about the time while your not running nitrous. Because I've read not to run 93 unless your tuned for 93...If I wanna be able to dick around whenever I want and not worry about if I'm on the right gas or not, should I just plan on running 93 full time? Should I look into a muli-tune having a tune for 93 to use while not spraying and switch over to nitrous mode tune?

Haven't see a place beat their price, the free shipping is what puts them ahead.

I've seen cheaper kits for sure, like the Compucar kit you posted and the Dynotunes kit Bakos has. What I was trying to say is that as far as Zex kits go, AM has the best price. I had been considering Zex from the beginning as well. Still unsure though haha.

A GT WET KIT will work fine on your v6. And installing MOST nitrous kits is fairly simple.

I have installed two (mine counting as one and did that three times now)

An auto tranny doesn't really need a RPM switch considering you punch it it gets above 3k and shifts for you so you don't close the TB ever.

Wide Open switch comes with most kits..

A warmer is good, NGK TR6 plugs..

75 shot can be ran all day on a stock tune, if you're gonna get it tuned, up it to a 100shot and you'll still be fine.

Running 93 all the time isn't going to hurt the car. Since I never know when I'm going to play around - I run it constantly. You can have tunes for whatever you want - But if you aren't running the best pump gas you can buy and you're trying to run nitrous, its gonna suck.

Hey Bakos, how is traction with the stock rear and shitty sumos while on the bottle. Will have an 8.8 w/ 4.10's in the future. But will be with stock rear till I can afford to swap it out.

John- don't know much about jet #'s and sizes but I know a 75 will give you about 75hp, 100 shot 100hp , ect.

Lol traction? What traction? Dude I ran 14.9 @ 103 or some crap. I have no traction on the bottle. I have more on the street then I do at the track..

With 4:10s and a posi I'd invest in some good drag radials.

And no a 75 shot isn't the same as a 75 jet. You will get a set of jets with different numbers on them, the total will equal a 75 HP shot..

You have to run 93 octane when you spray the car to keep it from detonating under the extra pressures in the cylinder when you spray. You do not have to run 93 all the time, only when you want to use the nitrous system. And 93 is not gonna hurt the motor when off the bottle it just does not do anything to help anything. So when you are not going to spray just use 87 and save your money.

For the window switch its for a manual tranny car so when you shift if you miss a shift you do not hit the limiter with the nitrous on which can result in backfires and blown intakes.

Any kit made for 96+ Efi Fords will work on your v6 cars even that Compucar 4.6 GT kit. Only downside is that you have only 50hp and 90hp as your options. Though if it was me I would get the kit use the 50 to get used to it, then toss in the 90hp jets and enjoy the fun.

User friendly and nitrous don't really go together, but ZEX is a simple kit to install and hook up. As its aimed at first time nitrous users. Its not a bad kit, but it rates there power at the flywheel not rear wheel power. So my Compucar kit adds 125 rwhp a Zex 125shot would only be 125 at the flywheel so less power at the wheels. Though a simple jet change will change what power you make at the tire.

Do not worry about a blow down tube you really do not need it unless you are gonna run at a strick track (OSW does not care or check for them). I would highly suggest on getting a Heater it makes the kit hit harder, make full power, and you get the most out of every bottle of nitrous. Trust me you want a heater.

Sean when either of you spray you want to do it above 3k rpms so you do not get fuel puddling and have a backfire. Since your an auto and have a free hand all you do is go to WOT and then once the car is over 3k rpms turn on the nitrous kit and it will spray the nitrous. You spray threw the shifts and when your done just let off the throttle and the kit turns off. Then flip the arming switch back off for the next time you want to use it. Or you can downshift the car so its above 3k and then you do not have to turn off the system just keep the rpms above 3k and you are fine.

I have had only one back fire with my window switch and it was because I was powershifting on the bottle and had the window switch set to high. It blew my air filter off and that was it.

Great info Dustin. Answered basically all of my questions. Didn't know it had to be manually activated above 3k. Figured there was a window switch of some sort. So the WOT sensor cuts off the nitrous when you let off the gas?
