m90 s/c

hey guys havent been on in awhile but just checking around and found out that i can put a m90 s/c from a supercoupe thunderbird into any v-6 1994-98 mustang. they are very cheap and easy to find. but i was wondering if anyone has done this mod and how much power can i expect. ive seen all the parts required and i do know there is some customization needed...

spike_africa 01-26-2009 06:30 AM

I remember a little while back we were looking at this setup for a friends car and its just not worth it for the money involved and the megar power you can get out of that setup. A used Procharger along with a split port swap (99-04 v6 heads and intake manifold) will make a lot more power then that blower on single port heads (94-98 v6) and not cost a lot more.

3.8LMustang 01-26-2009 06:46 AM

i will be doing this setup hopefully this year. The guy that im buying the whole kit from has everthing i need to put it on my stang, from the crank pulley to the 30lb injectors to the lower intake manifold etc.... and hopefully to see sum big gains with it and hopefully pushin it to 11psi but first i wanna try to stock pulley and see how much that gives me

hey spike do you kow how much psi is the stock m90 supercharger?

spike_africa 01-26-2009 07:24 AM

The stock super coupes made 10-13psi on stock pulley setups depending on the air outside. Also the 94-95 SC Thunderbird had a more efficient blower then the older models.

98mustangv6 01-26-2009 07:37 AM

well just wondering would it make more since to buy a wrecked t-bird supercoupe and get an engine with a s/c and work on that and when im finished drop that into my car? like i doubt my car can handle it with 150,000+ miles and i would have to rebuild the whole thing anyways... and it has the same 3.8 block im pretty sure. just wanting opinions but i know the supercoupe v-6 engine has around 230 hp i think vs my 150 stock engine haha

3.8LMustang 01-26-2009 08:16 AM

this will help you out

98mustangv6 01-26-2009 08:50 AM

thanks man yeah that helps and it looks a lot easier to just put in a tbird supercoupe engine in... i think thats what im going to do its going to be sick. now just gotta find a wrecked tbird with a good engine ;)
i wish i never did bolt on mods now... i will have so much more gains from this for around the same price but hey learning experience and at least i didnt spend to much on bolt ons haha

hey back on this topic anyone know the difference from the 1989-91 to the later supercoupe models and can the later supercoupe models be put in just as easily as the early ones?

your best bet would be to jump on v6power and PM some of the guys with the SC m90 setup done.

spike_africa 01-26-2009 07:49 PM

Its soooo not worth the money/time to do that swap. For all that bullshit you have to do you end up with not much more hp then a 99-04 v6 stock makes and you had to do alot of bullshit to make it work. Where as the 99-04 takes very minor mods to do the motor swap and then you just add a power adder and you are good to go as those motors can take a beating.

Trust me, its not worth the hassle for the SC setup. When we were looking at our options for Teal Beats he considered it till we looked further into what was needed and money/time for power gained sucks.

krenogin 01-26-2009 08:18 PM

in my 02.. id have to change to single port to use a m90 wouldnt I?

Yes and it'd be completely pointless. The m90 only brings you up to around 200hp.

krenogin 01-26-2009 09:04 PM

thats what i figure.. lol at least u could say HEY I GOT A SC! but i bet it wouldnt whine or anything like that.

98mustangv6 01-27-2009 07:04 AM

yeah... well idk i just know that those 3.8l engine had 230hp stock and thats 80 more hp than i have now almost. plus with some mods on those engines i heard theyre easy to get to 300 and i just didnt know if it was that hard to do the swap bc ive heard from some it is and some it isnt.

3.8LMustang 01-27-2009 07:26 AM

with the m90 superchargers im pretty sure you could get up to 300rwhp(or even close to that) with a 11psi

i know whenever i get the m90 im going with 11psi/30lbs injectors/bigger fuel pump etc... (whatever comes off the supercoupe) im pretty sure ill be making sumwere around 280-300rwhp

i know ill see big gains cuz i just bored my enigne 0.030 over and with ported heads, so the m90 should really open up my little v6 :p

krenogin 01-27-2009 07:46 AM

what SC is on a cobra. a guy has one that will give it to me.. any way to fit it on a sixx?

3.8LMustang 01-27-2009 07:48 AM

yes just buy the M-112 Adapter Intake Manifold from supersixmotorsports.com

http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/

98mustangv6 01-27-2009 09:25 AM

so spike i understand how much easier the swap would be if i had a 99-03 v6 engine and a used procharger but my question is how much do u think that would cost? i mean im sure i could find the whole splitport engine in a junkyard somewhere and i doubt that would be alot but how much is a used procharger and any idea where i can find one?

krenogin 01-27-2009 10:28 AM

my local junkyard sells 3.8s for 400 bucks, splitport too.. That'd be a huge upgrade alone. prochargers with intercoolers new are around 4000...

98mustangv6 01-27-2009 10:30 AM

yeah thats around the price i thought they would be so im deff thinking about a splitport 3.8l. yeah i know for a new one but how much is a used supercharger for a 99-03 mustang?

Switch 01-27-2009 10:40 AM

One just sold for $1000

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MESE:IT&ih=010

98mustangv6 01-27-2009 10:49 AM

dang man thats not bad... to bad there arent to many of them that i can find but thats what im going to go for a split port swap and a used supercharger and then try to get rid of all my split port swap stuff to help pay for it so in all i hope to stay under 1500 with new engine and supercharger...

spike_africa 01-27-2009 05:53 PM

Used 3.8 split port motors are anywhere from $200-550 you gotta shop around and see what you can find. I'm sure a junkyard near you has some low mileage split port motors for very little money. As for the super charger you can find used Procharger and Vortec setups all over and prices are from $1,000-$3,000 again you gotta shop around for a deal.

I did a split port swap whole motor with harness and all for $450 shipped and then we found a procharger for $1,500 used and put it on Teal Beasts car. with long tubes,11psi kit,H -pipe and dumps made 309rwhp.

That M90 is not gonna make that power for the same cost not even close.

98mustangv6 01-27-2009 06:52 PM

yeah man thats what im hoping to accomplish now it makes a whole lot more since.

spike_africa 01-28-2009 07:53 AM

Its not a very hard swap to do at all. If you can do some basic wiring and other odds and ends its not a bad swap at all. And you get a much better power plant too.

98mustangv6 01-28-2009 10:31 AM

yeah man it wont be hard, hardest thing will be finding the deal on the procharger but it will be sick when its done. ill make a thread of me doing the swap with pics :) but hey just a quick question i know the mechanical end of a car but for the tuning how do i tune it? like my 98 computer will work with a split port right? can i just get a custom tune and upload it with a split port and supercharger for my 98?

spike_africa 01-28-2009 02:53 PM

Yep you just get your car dyno tuned and your good to go.

98mustangv6 01-28-2009 04:07 PM

well i have a sct tuner from american muscle. i doubt they would be able to produce the tune i need but what about vmp tuning. could they just send me a tune for my tuner instead of a dyno?

spike_africa 01-29-2009 05:46 AM

Nope, because of the different motor and power adder you will need a dyno tune. If you do just the swap VMP should be able to send you a tune to run that setup.

98mustangv6 01-29-2009 04:41 PM

Dang now I feel like I wasted my money on the sct x3 tuner ugh idk what to do with it now. That thing wasn't cheap lol
