Default Turbo/Suercharger question.

I have a 2002 3.8L v6. Auto trans, CAI, and 65mm throttle body. I am looking to add some power to this set up and want to do so with a turbo/supercharger. If anyone has some info that can help me out on choosing the right one for my car and any other things I should do to increase the power I would greatly appreciate it.

so then would you recommend a supercharger or a turbo/twin turbo system?

Hey zag.. You should try searching YouTube for videos of V6 Mustangs with forced induction setups. Seeing the various systems in action may help you make a decision.

The overall price for a forced induction setup really depends on how far you plan to take it. I'm considering doing a twin-turbo setup in the Vic that I'm going to buy. Since I will be doing a low boost setup with stock internals, the projected cost is around $1600. That price does not include "hidden" costs, including welding charges for the new exhaust, as well as tuning costs/dyno runs. Of course, I will be doing most of the work myself. Someone who is taking their vehicle to a performance shop/buying a pre-built kit will pay more.

A procharger type system will be easiest to install if you havent much experience with doing it and has less over cost opposed to a turbo.

however the gains of the turbo will be much more at a lower boost than a supercharger. The real question is how far do you want to go.

300-350rwhp can be gotten easily with a supercharger. but can be even more easily gotten with a turbo and the turbo leaves alot of room to grow. more so than a supercharger.

so it is purely your want in your build.

so how much work on my block would have to come with getting to that 300-350rwhp out of a supercharger?

Personally, I would not feel comfortable doing 11psi on stock internals. I think you'd be asking for trouble with that setup.

You can run the 11psi procharger kit no problem with a good tune, lots of people do on the 3.8L motor. You need to figure out what you want to do with the car then you can pick turbo or supercharger. you can add either on with stock internals and run on low boost levels and still make nice power in the 300+ rang with either one. A turbo setup is gonna cost more hands down unless you make a kit yourself and do most of the work yourself then it would be cheaper to go turbo for sure. Otherwise a nice ATI procharger kit is the way to go and they can be had used as well.

There is also nitrous to

350rwhp is the safe limit on stock internals....

11psi procharger will get you near 300rwhp. it is perfectly safe with a compitent tuner.

youll need the 11psi kit from procharger, and 42lb injectors.

I was just stating that based on what I've seen, which is more than one 4.6 blowing before reaching 10psi. Of course, the 3.8 is a completely different engine.

2v 4.6L gets iffy when you get near 400rwhp. the new 4.6L gets iffy when you get like 420-430+rwhp. some go more with a good tune and have no problems, but others blow motors.

Yup. The most recent one that I've seen blew its engine @ 389rwhp. He was running 9.5psi.

yes.

i stated other stock limits or close to in other post.

99-04 v6 mustangs 350rwhp and the new 05+ v6's can go alittle farther than 350rwhp and be safe.

The 3v motors are good for around 450rwhp with a good tune. 5psi is a waste of money, and so is using an Eaton blower off a cobra or lightning which I assume is what your plan is.

Just go with a nice big bottle of NOS and you will be set. It will only cost you around 2-$300. I have that in my 95 civic and it is just awesome. Good luck buddy.

Default T3/T4 TWIN TURBO KIT

Hey Stang Bros/Sis! It's my first time and I'm glad to be here hoping to learn a lot from you guys. I have a 00 MUSTANG V6 COUPE that I am going to modify and would like some input on what else might be needed.
Here's what I intend to do;
*T3/T4 Twin Turbo Kit
*Injectors
*MAF
*Throttle body
*Under drive pulleys (aluminum)
*Focus/Cobra SVT fuel pump
*410 gears
*Diablosport Tuner (of course)
Well, there it is. Looking forward in hearing from you guys.
