Default soo maybe getting twins

OK, so my friend was searching a junk yard, and found some twin turbos of a totaled car, he bought them for like $5 because the fans where broken, He said that he almost has them fixed and will give em to me.

but i have a couple questions. If i get em i will only run about 6-8# because i don't want to blow my block.

but what else will i need?? an intercooler, BOV, pipes, new headers for turbos, bigger maf. biger injectors (can the maf and injectors wait??) a tuner and a tune. but what about suspension. I really don't have the money to go and get a new suspension do i really need one?? also do i have to have a boost gauge or can i run w/o one??

If i get them i will post up some pics. wish me luck on getting them though. and if i do get them it should be around this weekend

Sounds like you want to attempt a DIY twin turbo setup. It can be done but you are going to need alot of parts besides the turbos. An aftermarket K member will make the job much much easier. Id wait til you can afford one before you start.

I wouldnt attempt this unless you have a welder on hand and are pretty good with it. Also plan on lots of downtime for your car as this will be an complex project to say the least.

Good luck !! Keeps us updated and take lots pf pics...

would it work to try to go to a place that sells turbo kits, and try to talk to them about just buying everything but the turbo?? or would it be better to sell the turbos when i get them and try to save for a whole kit that comes witht eh k member and suspension

Buying a kit would be the best way to do it but not the most affordable.

Check out this site for some good tech, I think a few guys have turbos with stock K members.

If I was going to attempt it, Id start with headers from this guy...

depends on if they have standard straight discharge on the intake and exhaust sides. Also it would be good if the exhaust flange was something you could mount a downpipe to.....It will need to be something valuable for someone looking to build a kit. They probably arent, but it would be awesome if they were external wastegate......I say price on ebay could range from $100-500 for junkyard pieces that have been cleaned up and rebuilt.....

if you have any welding and mechanical knowledge its not hard to fab up a single turbo setup. It takes more time to plan it out and find all the parts you need them welding up the pipes and making it fit (thats where planning comes in).

what would i have to do for a twin set up if wanted?? i was kinda thinking about looking at the routing i need for something like this,

i don't think it would be too hard, only have to find a way to get the exhuast back to the back, and the rest i think i may be a ble to do..

or do yall have any good ways i can get a single turbo set up, i want somewhere around the 300+RWHP on about 6-7# of boost

A home done twin setup would be alot hard and alot more parts then a single and a stock short block doesnt need twins cause you cant even get the full benifit of them. A nice DIY single is what i wanna do once i get a welder and some time to plan it all out.

That setup you like is a nice and setup and will be a pain in the *** to setup diy style.

you need to just put the turbos at the end of the tailpipes and run some charge piping up to the front with an oil pump and intercooler. That would be the easiest way.
