i talked to my man at evolution performance today and he gave me a price on a procharger kit 8psi installed with dyno tuning- 5,500. how does that sound?
also he said dont get a vortech supercharger idk why but he hates them he says the head units go bad all the time any every hear of that happening. im new to the idea of a power adder so im learning as i go. money is a big factor and i kinda was thinking about getting used stuff of ebay or craigs list. and just peice together a setup. what do you guys think
thanks max

you can do much better by getting a mongoose kit. comes w/ a tune, all you need to do is dyno it to make sure the A/F ratio is ok. its about 4k for everything you need and a choice of vortech or novi if you are going for centrifugal

And Ive always heard of procharger having leaky seals. I bet they had a problem with Vortech or something. This is what Id get, http://modularpowerhouse.com/product...77373a8344d062

Vortech s-trim mongoose kit was $3,900 and it came with a really safe/rich tune but it was drivable without even putting it on a dyno if you dont have the money right away to get that done. The dyno tune did gain a lot of hp and torque compared to the mail order tune it came with though.

Never run a mail order tune with a power adder unless its from Tim. Even then, you need to get it checked out before running it.

Good advice. The tune could be spot on perfect but if the other parts aren't working the way they should... :flamed: . You could have gotten a bad injector or fuel pump. Then before you know it it's too late.

yup, you can just do it in your garage in 3 days probably. just set a weekend that you and a buddy can work on the car.

i didnt realize that i could install it myself but then what if i get like a used setup and dont get the tune from mph would i be able to drive it to a dyno shop or how would that work

and also is there anyone who has installed a supercharger themselves how hard it is and are there any write ups on it

if it doesnt come with a tune, i believe that you can bypass the supercharger by just routing the belt like normal. i believe someone either here or on MPH did that until he got to a dyno. you could also just baby it all the way with the supercharger on to a dyno, as long as you DO NOT GO INTO BOOST!

Just bought a procharger, I will attempt to do a write up on the install. Me and a couple of buddies are going to do mine.

sweet man good luck with it

sorry to ask so many questions but what kind of kit did you get, where did you get it and also what did you pay?

spike_africa 02-22-2007 07:34 AM

Its very easy to install a procharger. No oil lines so its all just bolting parts on. Did a v6 mustang,F150,GT mustang all were very easy to bolt them on.

how about a vortech blower how hard are they to install and what would you say vortech or procharger?
