Default Resistors that add 20+HP

i always see these resistors for mustangs on the internet that are supposed to add 20+hp and are supposed to be safe to use on your car. Does anyone know if they really are safe and if they really work? Are there any downsides to using this resistor?

My dad who is a ford tech who was sent to svt school was taught how to make them. I have one in my car and I can feel a difference but I don't know if it's the same thing that your talking about but I would never put ANY performance parts on my car of ebay.

all it does is trick the ecu into thinking the air is colder outside and this it adds more timing. Do yourself a favor and dont do that.
