Default Puttin a blower on it....

Ive been looking through Ebay alot and you can get a great used Vortech or Procharger kit for like 2500 bucks! I think im gonna keep the nitrous on it and buy a procharger this summer when Im makin money. Itll be used but i dont mind it cause I really want some boost

Ill be running prolly 8 pounds and Ill top it off with a little 25 or 50 shot.....

Open to ideas or thoughts.......

I have heard too many horror stories about used SC on ebay. I would try to buy one from someone you know or buy a new one. Why have the headache of chasing parts or having to send in the SC in for service if the seals go. That is something you want to do once and not have to worry how many miles does it actually have.

how much extra cash on top? once you get the supercharger you have either install it yourslef or get it installed witch is about 600 and then get it tuned anonther 300-600

I would do the same but i am happy with my nitrous

Procharger P-1sc has had some bad leaky issues, which I'm sure you know. I wouldn't buy one used on ebay.

IF you did, I would seriosuly spend another 300 or whatever be the cost and send it back to Procharger and have them replace all seals and such.

This is one of the greatest combo kits I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure you can get it without the Xcal2 which I would do and have it custom tuned by my tuner.

the link isnt working right now, but it always has before.

alot of the leak issues were form being over filled if you run 3/4 a bottle of oil rather then the hole thing it tends to stop the leaks. and there have been posts on how to change the seals yourself and the cost is around 45 dollars i belive it is for new seals. ME if i ever see a Procharger for a good deal with the 3core intercooler and the injectors and maf i would totaly sell my nitrous kit off and do it. I have always wanted a ATI even before i had a mustang i wanted one for my truck. I will own one some time, if i ever find that good deal.

I've had my procharger for a while and making some good boost with it as well. I've had no seal issues. The seal is from NAPA and costs like 10 bucks and you can change it no problem.

I'm currently looking to sell my whole kit cause I want a KB for my engine build. Any takers?

1.7 for now I can't afford the 2.2kb. My motor won't be that strong for the 2.2 I'm just getting pistons and rods with a mild grind cam from MPH and a slight port job on the heads.

Yup procharger wants way to much for their seals. I had thought maybe mine had started to leak and asked around for part numbers. When I took the blower off to change the seal found out I had a busted AC line spraying coolant and the back of the blower had belt dust around it. After I cleaned everything off and reinstalled no more belt dust. But I priced the part at NAPA and it was like 10 bucks.

Where you located and hell ya I would be interested. Would it be the whole kit or what? Cause I don't want to be having to peice together a KB kit. Find out how much boost he is pushing? I'll be running a low compression setup so more boost is best!

What about the vortech???? should I go for it. I am partly doing this because my dad hates me having nitrous on my car cause he doesnt know what it is like most old skool guys and he thinks all it does is blow up engines. LOL he told me that nitrous would bend my valves LMAO! I didnt say anything.....

Ill be installing the kit myself I am fully capable. It will have to have a cheap chip burned for it though....

Vortech or procharger doesn't matter Some people like the self contained deal rather than punching a hole in the oil pan. It's up to you on which route you want to go. Vortech is great but you have to remember you go cheap on the tune and say byey bye to your rods and/or pistons. Then you have to buy a new shortblock! And that will cost way more than a good tune but that's just me.

Well Im not talking about some POS tune I mean just like a diablo tuner with a downloaded supercharger tune on it. Something like that to keep it safe until I have money for a dyno tune. I think I am going to get this vortech. Will the 96-98 Bracket work on my car? If not then why? If it doesnt work ill get it anyways and find a new bracket.

It's great just drving around. Drives like a normal car, but when you hit the loud pedal makes it fun. At the strip I have had to many problems with **** breaking to really get a good run. I think with a good set-up this thing will get the results you want. Also It is all set-up for a 2003. I don't think the bracket on the vortech kit your looking at will match because of our water pumps and altenator set-up.

If I don't sell this kit I'll just go ahead and get a 8 rib set-up and get a smaller pulley. With me lowering the compression I should be getting some good power from this head unit! I love the procharger. I just have gotten power hungry and want more.

Now all you need is a BAP, fuel pump, LMAF and MAF extender, IAT, and Tune. I would get a SCT Xcalibrator 2. Or just buy a flip chip. Also you might want a wide band A/F quage and boost/VAC as well. Pillar pod.

Good luck and hopefully soon you'll be in the world of boost. You'll love the difference.

You'll also want a fuel pressure gauge.

You get what you pay for. And when you're gonna be pushing the limits of the stock blower (esp. after all the nitrous that he shoots before the install of this blowre) you're gonna wanna take every precaution.

he wont be intercooled so i doubt it will need the BAP + pump, or a maf extender. you will definately need a better pump or you can use the stock pump with a KB BAP, lighting MAF, IAT since you have a 03 (mount it between the T/B and outlet of supercharger), SCT with a custom dyno tune.

Man you are right on. Their is only so much the motor will take until kaboom! Or Clunk. I've been running the **** out of my car with my set-up and I know I guy that had been running a KB on his stocker and just blew up last week at Atco.

Your motor might hold but it will be a time bomb.

Yea, which is why I'm trying to be smart. Just finish my bolt on's, re-tune, fix my body work and some other little things.

Then I'm gonna build my block. Try and do a twin turbo then. That way I can have 450RWHP on the street and then turn my switch from 1 to 5 and boom, 700RWHP 10 sec track car!

I can dream, can't I?

I dont have the time to wait 3 years for a turbo kit. I want some boost now so I can have fun and show it off this summer....

But my car doesnt have an IAT sensor on it. I always have to plug the IAT sensor holes in my intake kits. Do I still have to have one? Is there a generic supercharger chip that you can buy and plug into the computer? Is there a handheld tuner with preinstalled supercharger programs?

the things following the bold letters are stuff you need for a proper and safe tune. i dont know anyone who has a mailorder tune for a supercharger besides the ones who bought complete kits from tuners.
