Default KB and stock SB

I have a 1.7l KB in my 04 GT. With a 12lb pulley (in Colorado) I am getting barely over 9lbs boost. I dyno'd at 426hp/444tq at the wheels corrected. I have heard the SB is only rated for 450HP at the flywheel. Is that true? What is everyone else running HP wise with a stock 2V SB? I just want to know when I need to start looking at getting a new engine.

Yea, about 450 at the fly, or not much over 400 at the wheels. I would definately say you're flirting with blowing ur block. Even with a dyno tune. It's also not so much the HP, but the boost. 12psi is a lot of boost on the stock internals. Most suggest that 10PSI is the most you should be at.... but... since you said you're only seeing 9PSI, maybe you're fine.......... for now

Maybe it's time to put the bigger pulley back on. (did I just say that out loud?)

he's up in thinner air so thats why his 12 psi pulley is only showing 9 psi. his horsepower is corrected to sea level right? oh yeah you have well over 500 FWHP. my auto was detuned to 395 horsepower or 430 manual. people keep saying that the motor is going to pop but its 11k miles and still ticking.

edit: it also takes you about 5 minutes to change pulleys. thats if you bought the tool from KB.

KB sent me the tool and several different pulleys. I called and asked why I ordered the 9lb intercooled kit and get about 6lbs of boost so they sent out about a pulley a week for 2 or 3 weeks till I got the car to 9lbs. They said that the altitude should not matter that if I have a 9lb pulley I should be getting 9lbs of boost. My hp is corrected to sea level by the way. I don't remember what it is not corrected. I will look and update this later.
