Hey bros, Just showin some pics of my GT with the tinted taillights..what you guys think? I had them done by some guy in florida on another stang forum
|
They look pretty cool. Tell us more. How much...etc...?
|
Yeah I like them =D
I gotta get my friend to post pics of his silver 00' GT, he just put those taillight vinyls on that are very dark, looks so good now =D |
this isnt a vinly
it is some type of paint with clearcoat and all that......I cost me 140 buks but if you send your originals back to him he will refund you 30 bucks so its only 90 bucks... |

Reminds me back on stangnet, 97v6silver, what a character! we had this entire thread he started about change he got from BK and he even posted a pic of the receipt, thinking it was wrong, turns out it was right and he just cant subtract, we ended up putting that as his title! I know its not a vinyl, but we mentioned those vinyls (the ones my friend has) on here before (autobadges.com has them) and this reminded me of uber-black-tails :tongue3: |
I wanted to get mine smoked but I realized that I just love that bright cherry red look on it. I can get it doen for 125 and they'll smoke your 3rdd brake light as well.
|
sorry i paid 130 for it and if you resend your originals you get 40 back....thanks for the mathematical correction..
|
I think they look damn good. Especially with black.
|
Check out this thread:
I think I am going to buy them as I have a second set of tail lights. http://www.fordpower.net/store/custo...=17&cat=&page= |
The person who I talked to who does the smoking tail lights said that those are very cheesy and you can still see some red along the edges since it doesnt cover those areas. Your better off spending an extra 60 and get them painted and clearcoated. I saw and felt one and it was very smooth and looked very clean and factory.
|
You could go this route and use some VHT Nite-Shade Lens Black out.
VHT-SP999 is the model number through SummitRacing. Its $12 for a decent sized aresol can. I used this along with some aresol clearcoat on top. I think it looks really good considering its just rattle canned on. |
i think thats the stuff the guy used on my lights.....
|
as for the vinyl stuff (the link is the same stuff different place) no, you can see any red around it, even with my crappy vinyl installing abilities, it was easy as pie. It looks AWESOME when you are done and completely black during the day, and at night they still light up almost as good as stock, lol, we did a comparison when we were half way done with the install (lucky us we were doing it at midnight) and there was little difference in the lights. They just look awesome and it would be kool if i could do something like that to my car, maybe... that aresol can thing would be kool, if i could remove my bezel and just paint that portion, maybe tape up my back up lights to give it a little contrast like mustangmike's
no more rambling |
What about at night when you are riding around and dont have your break pedal pushed, can you still even see any light? Just seems dangerous, and also on the note of the vinyl ones not being good, Ive never seen any pictures where they didnt completely cover the light.

When illuminated they honestly look identical to stock lights. (at least mine do) when theyre off however they give the backend of even my sixer a nice sinister look... :evil3: |

::EDIT:: one too many "there"s |
I just decided to leave them stock and not smoke them...I'm starting to like the look of the red anyways.
|
Goes to show that no matter what model stang you have you always have to mod it. You have a Saleen and you want to change stuff on it lol. I have a GT and I wish I had a stock Saleen or Cobra. Are we crazy or what?
|
We are all crazy, even (and sometimes especially) us sixers!
:evil1: :evil3: |
the guy i ordered it from sends you a set already tinted so you can keep yours and have a tinted set for 130 bucks
|
I would never do this to my car...if someone rear-ends you, even if it is their fault, you will be the one getting the ticket, and possibly getting sued by the person that hit you for 'covering ' the lighting of your vehicle...be careful guys....
|
I made a comment to my friend when we were installing them regarding there legallity, and lack of it. I said that the SAE/DOT/Approval marks would still be on the lights, and visible through the film, and no one would ever know the difference! :evil3: mauahahahaha :evil1:
That is, i think the marks are on the lgith right, not on the bezel? |
It look great, the best I have seen. Where did you get that done and how can I do that or get in touch with him?
|
hey danbc21.....i have his email. Send me a pm and i will send you his email address
|
you know what would really clean up the look of the back of your car, is if you tinted your third brake light and either got a black ford emblem or a silver to match up with your reverse lights and letters. but thats just my opinion. i have the email address for the emblem if you want to change it. i put a silver emblem on my car just check my prior posts to find my pics of my car.
