there is a chemical that the body releases under those extreme pain situations that gives you a feeling of uephoria (sp?) thats why they do that.

Its simiular to what happens when you smoke a cigarette, but on a much larger scale. The chemical you are referring to is "endorphins"...Your body reach's a certain pain threshold almost to the point of unconsinous. I have been told by my friends that do piercing's its a feeling unlike anything you will every feel...I SAY SCREW THAT!!!! hehe I love my "ink" but screw that crap...
