My 2002 Convertible Mustang

This is my pony. I wanted to make it unique so I went with Gold Racing Stripes. They were hard to find buy I finally found a supplier and put them on a week ago. Also on the car are smoke headlights and smoke taillights. Headlights were easy to put in but I don't understand why the screws for the taillights had to be so difficult to get out. Nevertheless I got those in. I also put the rocker stripes on and the bumper inserts.

(Couple of water spots on the front. Gotta love the Arizona sun right after a wash)

Attachment 16188
(One of the back stripes is crooked and I am aware, fixing it tomorrow. I hate vinyl.)

Attachment 16189

I haven't done any performance mods yet but I intend to. Starting with a limited differential so I can do burnouts. Then I'll move on to some engine stuff like cold air intake, throttle body, etc. Going to get a tuner too. Of course all of this comes as soon as I get the $$$.

WNRacing 01-06-2010 03:36 PM

Interesting.

zigzagg321 01-06-2010 03:47 PM

gold has got to go. and save your mod money for a supercharger, turbo, or nitrous and a tune.

Well that's the whole point! lol I was tired of seeing black on white everywhere. Not everyday you see white and gold.

True. But whats the reason behind this?

Wombozi17 01-06-2010 05:16 PM

Sorry, I am just not original....

I'm trying the old "if you've got nothing nice to say" approach, but... Just because something hasn't been done, doesn't necessarily mean that it should be.. The color scheme could potentially look ok with some different wheels/tires and if the car was slammed... IDK.. I just really dislike racing stripes and Mustangs, especially on anything pre '05.

Mustangs are all about personal taste though, so if it fits your style, so be it!

02trgt 01-06-2010 08:43 PM

meh doesnt look as bad as some others ive seen... needs to be lowered and rims asap. speaking of rims... i have some cobra r's for sale ;)

Deathdiesel 01-06-2010 09:33 PM

I think it doesn't look half bad.All you need to make a sweet car imo is, lowered, rims, mach1 grill, chin spoiler, and go all the way with the stripes, like the front bumper doesn't look done.

NeedACobra 01-06-2010 11:23 PM

I dont mind the white/gold combo at all.......

The one thing I dont like (and Im surprised noone else mentioned it yet) is the tail lights.

But yeah, some rims would make it so much better.

rebelyell 01-07-2010 12:00 AM

Not slamming here by any means, but your car is pretty dirty. Tires need a real good scrubbing, and if you'll look at some of the other stangs here, there are plenty of things you could have for dressing up. couple hundred bucks and mostly DIY stuff. But Welcome to the boards, I quit posting pics because there is always a better looking Car than yours. And also IMHO, all the members who dive a 3.8L 6 cylinder, ( and there are a lot of them on here) great fellers, well known, offer great advice, have beautiful mustangs, and we generally just love them to tears, Don't get the respect that they deserve. I think it's like that in the towns everyone lives too. Oh it's just a V-6 Phhh. Now there's a GT, or a Mach1, or a Cobra. OOh that's nice.. Just the way it is..

Anyway clean her up a bit a post some more pics... :D

unrealstang 01-07-2010 04:54 AM

Yeah I got the car 4 months ago so it's still a work in progress. I am going to get some rims soon but as I posted in the V6 forum I want to get the back axle fixed so I can do burnouts. That is the most annoying thing about it right now. Do chin spoilers really make a big difference? I was looking to buy one I just didn't think it would enhance the image much. And yeah I am going to go down the rest of the front bumper with the stripes. It is just a pain to do.

Deathdiesel 01-07-2010 10:07 AM

Chin spoiler does make a good difference actually. And is yours an automatic or standard? Might think about changing gears same time you get the t-loc

NewMustangMan 01-07-2010 10:41 AM

Welcome and I also don't mind the white and gold.

rkaz 01-07-2010 12:03 PM

It looks nice. U've only had the car 4 months so u got a good start. Make the car the way u want it and u don't have to do all the things others do 2 their cars. Just as long as ur happy with what u do then thats all that matters.

Unfortunately it is an automatic. When I bought the car I was ignorant and didn't think the transmission would make a difference but it does. What do you mean by changing gears?

NewMustangMan 01-07-2010 12:56 PM

He means getting a dif gear. like 4.10s. when you put the possi in you might as well do the gears at the same time. they will help your Acceleration

unrealstang 01-07-2010 02:25 PM

Oh yeah right. Well right now I am looking to replace the whole rear end because I don't think I have the ability to replace the possi and gears by itself. I like the one on AM but they don't even have an instruction guide!

By the way I need some insight on what rims to get. Considering the color scheme of my car is white, gold, and black (if you count headlights and taillights) what color rims should I get. Style as well.

Thanks guys!

NewMustangMan 01-07-2010 02:39 PM

I think you should go Hypercoated saleens or chrome ones.

Pilks 01-07-2010 04:03 PM

def unique

Yeah, the chin make it look so much more complete on the car.

BLazE 01-07-2010 06:31 PM

You can do burnouts easily with your car how it is right now. I have an 02 auto V6, too. Just press the middle button in front of your shifter to turn traction control off, hold the brake, slam the gas, and there you have it! They will be one wheel wonders, but it still looks cool lol. One time I got both wheels spinning somehow, idk how the hell I did it.

Yeah lol I need the two wheel wonders. Some how I got wheels spinning before too but that was only once.

I agree with the said statement ..... mustangs are about personal taste.

I tried to be unique with my car and some liked and some didnt.

The guy has had his car for 4 months... he probably only has a blurry idea of where he wants to take it. Once the image clears up, it'll come together, no doubt.
Plus, once he does one thing, he'll realize he needs to do another...

Foncarelli, I dig the top pic. The horse is a little much for me on the bottom pic, but I am middle aged and kinda stodgy... were I to see it in a parking lot, I'd look at it and think it was cool as hell, but too much for me.

spike_africa 01-08-2010 01:18 PM

I think with the right wheels and stance it would look cool, and be different.

I think it's kind of cool man. I would have personally gone with some different rims but I think the paint is sick. I like unique stangs, the one you don't see 1000 replicas of!

jseven 01-08-2010 03:00 PM

atleast it aint pink. lol

but yeah man, you can pull it off with other wheels and the mach 1 combo and some springs.

sand1303 01-08-2010 07:08 PM

change your tails to stock and get them tinted. the tails you have are kinda ricey. don't worry though, i used to have ricey alteezza's on mine when i first started changing my car up.

rebelyell 01-09-2010 12:00 AM

A good thing about 99/04 mustang is there are plenty of cosmetic things to do. The chin spoiler? you will be surprised at the difference once you see it on your car. it hides that ugly bumper lip on the stock bumber. Euro tailights, ( alteezas ) are usually associated with rice.. stock tinted is almost anti-rice.

Add some fog lights so you don't have those 3 strips of plastic where a light should be.. larger dia. rims and lower profile tires. Even some stock bullit rims would look great on her..

Some people even prefer to go wingless on the back. That's a 50/50 debate on here usually. Just don't ever, ever get a bigger wing.

And the door ding guard can probably go too. Some will say it's functional for door dings, but it just aint pretty to look at.

Possibilties are endless. as most of us have found out. It all depends on the $ you want to spend.

This is just for the exterior things. Plenty of interior things you can get. And for the Power mods, thats a whole nuther thread and more things..

You got a convertable so, live it up man... :smokin:

Thanks for your advice. I intend to get a chin spoiler after hearing everyone say it makes a big difference so it looks like a good investment to me. I like the spoiler on the back but I will never go bigger. I hate how protruding spoilers look. Rims and tires I am going to get in a few months. By the way, how are the door ding guards removed? I am going to take them off.

rebelyell 01-10-2010 11:33 PM

I'm pretty sure they're just stcky 2 sided 3M tape or of the like. Try using a heat gun to help peel it off. Shouldn't hurt the paint at all. But I could be wrong. If your not sure just leave them on until you get the other stuff you want.. But do get the chin spoiler. Just drill your holes according to instructions. I used small nuts and bolts as opposed to the plastic fasteners. It's pretty flexible so you dont have to worry if it scrubs a speed bump.. :)

While I am biased toward the oreo theme going with gold isn't a bad idea. I would have tried to find the 40th anni stripes from Ford though. Welcome to the board.

Here are a few pics of White/Gold that I like.

I would say, that is probably the look he's going for. Very clean and not over done.. :)

unrealstang 01-14-2010 04:39 PM

It's not over done right now is it?

rkaz 01-14-2010 06:09 PM

If it was u would know it after u posted the pics. U would be lit up like the 4th of July by more than one person on here. The people that own these cars got a lot of passion 4 the way they look and have no problem telling u when u go to far. I like it and like I said in another post u haven't had the car very long so just do the things that u like 2 it and make urself happy first.
