The dumbass probably just kept putting in new oil as the oil got low instead of actually draining and changing. Not everyone in the world can be bright.

This is why stupid people should be sterilized. I hope that if he took it to a shop to get it cleaned out, that they charged the hell out of him. That's what he deserves for being stupid.

Now, do you guys that that is conventional or synthetic oil?

I was reading through the posts and the other people were actually being very helpful. We would give someone so much **** it's not even funny. How could you be helpful to someone who's that big of a moron to let your car go 60k miles without changing the oil. Even if BMW recommends 10k, I would still change the oil every 3k or so. He should be stripped of his license and beat with a sock full or quarters.

I totally agree!

As for the oil...I think it would be a safe bet to say it's the same oil that BMW puts in stock (so synthetic, I think?).

If you read towards the last page, they said something about how they already had a flame thread and that this thread was just to help them out after the flaming was over with.. So, I think unlike us, they flamed him then were able to get over it and be helpful. LOL

Your friend is on crack.. Mobil 1 Full synthetic is the only thing that ever touches my vehicles, unless Amsoil has some kind of an amazing deal going which practically never happens.

What kind of Mobil 1 do you use? Mobil clean 5000?

I run valvoline white bottle oil...now what!

stupid mazda needs full synthetic though but thats every 5k miles. Mustangs gets changed when it runs a little rough.

But really BMW's have little lights that tell you your oil needs to be changed and then you have to reset the computer. That car looks like some little monekys **** all over it.

You run conventional in the 'Stang? Even with the blower???

Just keep an eye out at your local parts house.. Auto Zone and Advanced always run specials on Mobil 1, you just have to catch it. I got 5 quarts of Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Perf. 15,000mile oil and a Mobil 1 filter (For the Mountaineer) for $30.00 last week at Advanced...

That's awesome. It looks kinda like my g/f's rodeo looked like when I had to swap the head gaskets on it. Good thing I didn't give a **** about that car.

I saw this to varying degrees many times over the years. BMW promotes the 30k interval...and its "within specifications" to burn a quart in 2000 miles, so some ppl do just keep adding oil and think that doing that is as good as changing the oil and filter.

@WNracing, i just run the mobil one thats 7 dollars a quart. It doesnt say anythng special on it, i think the clean 5000 is cheaper. Dunno but i got a special at advance for 30 dollars, mobil 1 filter, and 5 quarts of the stuff i use. the only thing more expensive there was royal purple. I run my car a half quart low too, but i think it worrys me that i do it so im gonna top it off tomorrow.
