Default bought my son his first car-a mustang!

well its a piece of sh_t right now. but for 450 dollars i was able to drive it to the house(about a 30-40 minute drive). it runs really really ruough. it is just a little shitty 4 cylinder engine but hey, it's still a mustang right. don't have any actual pics from myself because it was dark when we got it home, but here is the craigslist ad with pics.

http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/1294272743.html

check out the front seats, they even have flip down armrest. must have come out of a larger full size car because they are huge. oh well your first car has gotta be a piece of **** right? mine was.

oh, hes gonna love the winter i noticed when looking under the hood the hoses were removed going to the heater core

oh well maybe we can spend time fixin her up together

even thought it is a piece, i kind a liked driving it with the top down.

Sorry, he might have already deleted it since he sold it. It worked when I started the thread, I tried it. Didn't take pics because it was dark but we are going to do some duct taping on the top and oil change/spark plugs Sunday. I will shoot a couple then and post them. But it's a 88 faded red with black top.

"You fucked you son out of alot of vagina"

hahaha, yea i prob did but we are going to do some work to it. i might get him a cheap *** paint job for christmas or something. that will make it look halfway decent. still got to do some fooling around to get it legal to drive, parking brake not hooked up , speedo not working, stuff like that that can be done in the driveway no biggie. still runs rough i think the gas and gas filter is next though. don't have a lot of money to buy him something nice so i did what i could. my parents spent 800 dollars on my first car and 550 on my brother's. they were hoopties so i figured my kids should start out the same way.

I'd rock that as a first car. It wouldn't take much money to make it look 1000 times better, just a lot of work. The seats and headlights were definately good for a laugh. Those would have to go soon.

yea, i figured more time than money to get it looking at least presentable and not be embarassed to drive it. he's 18 but never got his liscence when he was in high school cause he didn't keep his grades up to deserve me spending a couple hundred on driving school. he just moved in an apartment with some freinds and is suppose to be starting a new job tomorrow. i want to buy both my kids their first car even if it is a P.O.S. i am taking off work in about a week to take him back up to the dps to try and get his liscence. i took him a few weeks ago but they said he needed to get glasses. so he can't even drive it at the moment so we have a little time to do some tinkering with it.

i think im gonna try and wet sand and buff it out till i can get him a paint job. I know it won't look like new but it should look better. either that or sand it down and prime it with black prime till he gets paint. headlights are no problem just pick them up from the junkyard and get some seats that look like they actually belong in there. i figured it was good for a laugh though so i wanted to share.

1 word. Potential.

That car has a lot of it.

Step 1: Remove Mud Plaps.
Step 2: Remove "Custom" fog lights. lol
Step 3: New Head lights.
Step 4: Pick up some LX or GT wheels out of the junkyard.

Totally different looking car.

And if you could spring for a cheap paint job at some point it would be a totally different car, not to mention a pretty good looking first car.

I feel really bad for your son, he has no chance with the ladies unless that was your goal!

I look forward to seeing that resurrected hopefully! I sure hope that thing will be safe to just drive...

As far as appearance I think it just needs a paint job and wheels and it could look pretty good. When are you gonna throw a 331 stroker in it for him?

Like what WNRacing said, the car has got potential.

I think it's cool that you bought him his first car, no matter what it is. Maybe it can be a 'bonding' thing and you guys can work on it together. I'm sure he is just happy he has a car. Lucky for him, Foxes are pretty cheap to fix and mod.

Haha. I'll prob paint it, get a new top, and maybe get some new wheels if I run across some super super cheap ones. He ain't getting no engine swap or anything else under the hood unless he pays. I would rather him drive a decsent lookin four cyl than have him flip a convertible 5.0 being stupid. I figure some cheap paint and another top And some junkyard headlights will run me another 500 dollars. Then it will be a driveable 1000 dollar first car for him. Wheels will come later.
