My First Car - A 2000 GT
I have not properly introduced myself so I'll take the time now to do so.
I'm an undergraduate college student attending a private school in Florida and live in New York state. I've been in the market lately for my first car and as my birthday neared I convinced my parents to purchase me a used 2004 Mazda RX8. Well, my grades weren't too hot at all and I soon found a limit on the amount they were willing to spend. I was initially really bummed out, but I'm so glad I went with something that has a lot more power; I couldn't be happier!
Enjoy!
I found this beauty in Virginia listed at just under $7K with 66k miles on it at the time. It is a 2000 and come to find out, the dealership bought the car from Florida with a blown engine (intake manifold defect was most likely the culprit I'm assuming) and were hoping to put a new engine in the vehicle and make a profit. The car hadn't sold in a while and they kept lowering the price. To make a long story, I was the winner in this scenario and ended up with a very clean car with a rebuilt engine.
I've since replaced the air filter with a K&N drop-in. If you've been following my posts in the 4.6L and general section you'll see that I'm in need of a new clutch so that will be the next small project. Other than that I'm loving being able to go where I want, when I want. All my friends love and respect my car and I can surely say it is a chick magnet.
I'm glad to meet all of you and thanks for the help you've already displayed; you're invaluable and I hope to get to know all of you!

P.S.: It's a five speed, of course!

Nice first car. It's white too.
First things first, take off the pin striping and the wing, get some smoked headlights and a grille delete and chin spoiler, and a shorty antenna. Then you'll be on your way.
The chick magnet bit must be a V8 thing or something, I know of no such puss magnetism with my car.

Thanks guys... I love it! Between paying the sales tax on the car when I went to register it a week ago, two months worth of insurance at once, a new clutch kit, quadrant, and firewall adjuster, among a few other things, I won't be upgrading anything until my next paycheck rolls around.
I did however purchase some nice tan floormats with the GT logo from AM and the 8" shorty antenna! More to come, I assure you!

Welcome to MB!! Clean 2000 man!! Free mod- take off that pin striping. Your drivers side headlight looks brand new, but is your passenger side headlight fogged up? If so you can wet sand it to new. Seems like the modding has already begun lol, have fun with it man.

I'm not to sure about taking the pinstripping off; I was thinking about it though - perhaps. I'm pretty sure I'm going to leave the wing on I've always liked the look of a subtle wing (nothing that looks like the car is going to blast off to the moon though lol).
Other than that I plan to go for the chin spoiler and Mach1 delete kit and hopefully eventually a set of wheels and tires to boot.

Because having a set of wheels minus the tires kinda sucks.
Seems like you got a good deal with the rebuilt engine, though. Congrats!

LOL, no this isn't a Honda body kit. It has two bolts on each side in the trunk that hold it on. Its actully very simple to do and makes it look very nice.
Here is a link on how to do it: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/wingmod1.htm
Should take around an hour to do with a buddy. Pretty simple and do the one where you pull it all the way back, looks much better.
search our forums as an old member Stephen had this done on his white 00 GT and it looked really nice. He has pics on here some where.
