Default Painted the Grill Pony..

So the first time i painted the grill pony it looked good till it all chipped away.. i did not prep or use good paint/clearcoat...

These instructions are trademarked by peecola himself...

1: Tape off bracket
2: Dupli Color Adhesion Promotor - 2 Coats after each dries...
3: Wait 30-45 minutes
4: 3 Coats of the color you want (Dupli Color Auto Paint [small can])
5: Wait till the coat DRIES before you apply next.. I made sure I did not have any water dots or runs...
6: Let paint harden over night and do 2 spray coats of clear then a nice thick coat... let cure for two days...

Pictures....

I decided to try a dark red and this looks just like seans red (laser red) and he will probably steal it from me at the next meet lol...

I also f'ed around with FLAT White on my extra pony...

UPDATE!

Looks good, but will it look good on your car?

Looks good. I'd have to see in on your car, though.

i dunno i hope, if not soak it in lacquer and paint it white...

This has no CLEAR COAT so it will be shinier if I do white later on...

I would definitely make it glossy, you would never be able to see the flat black.

yeah I had to run around without the pony on my grille for a while until I could get the screws to put it in. It just looked off without it.

See if I were ever going to do anything with my pony, it'd be either what Kevin did or I'd just go buy a 2010 horse (when available)

Turned out good dude. Not sure how well you'll pull off the red, but always worth a shot. Slither tried that out on his. After seeing this pic of the red stang with the red pony I thought about color matching it, but decided to stay chrome to match the lips on my rims. Idk why everyone wants to paint them black, way too hard to see. Finish the white one, that'll probably look badass.

I say give the red a shot, you may like it. I'm not a fan of my girls pony. I painted it purple on a dsg 04 gt, but she likes it because it lets people know its a girls car

I am running my custom black/chrome ford emblem that I took off my trunk when I shaved it on the front of mine (friends cobra in background).

Yes it's the stock bracket. I did a little grinding, drilling (for the nips on the back of the emblem to come thru) and double sided tape was involved as well but it started off as a stock bracket

I don't understand why you would put a red horse on a white car.

I have a chrome pony again. The metallic red on yours looks nice though.

The only pony I would replace my shiny pony with is this one:
