cut coupe springs in my 10th aniv vert
Haven't whored some pics lately. Picked up some Cobra coupe springs and cut off 1/2 coil from the front and 5/8 coil from the rears. Took out the top isos from the front, used both isos in back still. I will probably take out the upper isos from the back to drop it a bit more when I get the energy and I have to get some spacers on the rear wheels to push them out a little more.

Cobra coupe springs are actually a pretty decent spring, plus I got them for free. I also didn't want too low of a drop that comes with most of the aftermarket springs, I got a family to drag around to car shows and don't want to scrape.

I would never cut any of the Mustangs I've had (other than a little off the "dead" coil of a FMS C Spring to level the rear out).
The Cobra springs are 600Lb linear so cutting them isn't as catastrophic as cutting regular mustang's progressive rate springs. The 1/2-3/4 of a coil I cut dropped by about 3/4 of an inch all the way around. The vert Cobra springs are softer (for a more cushy ride) so these really stiffen up the ride and get the fenderwells closer to the tires.
I really didn't want to dump $2-300 into a spring thatwould drop me too far down when ultimately, I want to get coil-overs some day. I thought this would be a satisfactory middle ground for now.

didn't it cost $2-300 worth of time and effort to cut the stock springs.....when you cut the springs you increased the spring rate, im not sure what your referring to as "catastrophic". You probably eliminated some of the wheelhop compared to your stock vert springs. Although, long story short I would have bought a set of coil-overs instead of wasting my time cutting stock springs

I would love to get the coil-over, but it's a hefty price for me personally to pay right now... Once the kids are out of day-care, the mods can pick up where they left off.

If I remember correctly, the stock Mustang spring has a kind of turned in coil on the top.

OK, so here we go. cut off another 1/8 coil to make for a grand total of 11/16 of a coil off of the rears. Took some twisting, and testing...and some twisting and testing... they are both dead on at 27" flat on the rear and 26" flat on the front.
Stock
1st attempt 9/16 of a coil on the rear all isos in
2nd attempt 11/16 of a coil - still all isos

very nice man, that little extra really sets it off nicely! Might I suggest some wheel spacers if you plan to keep running the 10th anniv. rims. They look great, but like all factory mustangs it just looks so goofy having the rear rims tucked in further than the front rims.

No, he's got a valid point, and I see it too. It's mostly the wheels, but the front end gives off a beemer tone too.
