Default Help finding a good camera dealer

Okay, so I think I've got my mind made up on what camera I'd like to get. A Nikon D40 (or 60 depending on price)....thing is it's hard to find an online shop that I can trust. I know Chris (Jack TheRipper) had some difficulties getting his camera online...maybe some people would be kind enough to list some trustworthy camera buying sites??

I highly reccommend Adorama.

Adorama does deal in greymarket, used, and refurbished, but they clearly mark each appropriatly so there is no confusion. You can buy from them without fear. I have purchased a 55-200mm VR lens (dont get the non VR version trust me), a SB-600 light, and a bunch of other **** with no problems.

expect to pay about 400+/- for a D40
Expect to pay about 550+/- for a D60

IMO, the extra 4 megapixels is not worth $150 bucks, that $150 is almost enough for the 55-200mm VR lens. Plus the D40 does better in lower light situations. They both haave the SAME SENSOR, SAME SOFTWARE, SAME EVERTTHING, the D60 just has a stopmotion feature that looks cool and an extra 4megapizels, and the VR version of the 18-55mm kit lens, and VR on that lens is worthless.

They are both excellent cameras though,

replacement battery. 4 bucks plus $5 shipping. 9 dollars for replacement batter. I have 2 of these. It was a lot cheaper than buying a pair of $40 batteries. Lots of peopl get these, i have never heared of any problems.

Oh yah, if you get a Nikon checkout Nikoncafe.com its a pretty good forum board. Not so many elitists.

and yer gonna see a LOT of **** talking about the Nikon D40 from Canon users, Nikon D200+ users, etc, etc.

Dont buy into any of the horseshit they say, most of the time they dont have thier facts straight and they are just pissed off a $400 camera can do just as good as thier $1,500 camera 95% of the time. all that extra cash they pay really goes into that last 5% of the time.

Okay, so I went out an bought a D50 today with a 50mm, 27-90mm, and 70-300mm lense for just over $500. I took some pictures of my car today too, but my computer is having some difficulties so until I get it to open CS4 so that I can convert from .raw I'll post some of them up here. Thanks for the help guys!

They're nice and my camera is REALLY user friendly. You almost have to be an idiot to take a bad picture. I'll post some when I get some more loaded onto my computer.

Well change of plans for me, I may end up with a Canon Rebel Xti. I'm not 100% sure I'm getting one but if I do I'll post all of the details about that..if I do end up with it I'll be getting a new lens or 2.

And some filters. I've only ever used Nikon DSLRs so it would be interesting to learn a Canon.

If you're going to spend money on a canon, at least get the XSi.
