Been working on the school's baja car!
so i kinda got into the build pretty late but here it goes
last year the baja team built this car for competition for the summer....since this platform would still work, we decided to modify the existing chassis of one of our cars..
we needed to update our harness mounts and update the chain guards..but..since we ahve lots of money to play with given to us by the shcool and our sponsors we decided to redo the whole front end so that a person thats taller tahn 5'4" could fit in it (the pedals were directly on the steering rack.) now that we make a whole new front box we can now put the pedals on past the steering rack...and our legs can stretch a lil.
here is a photo of how it looked before..notice that there is no nose to the front...just the "bumper" (the back car obviously)
here is a photo of how it looks now...you can see the modified nose to accomidate taller people
since this pic has been taken, we mounted the pedals on the forward most lower tube. all we need to do is make pedal blocks so that we dont push the pedals too far and not damage any of the linkage...make a bumper guard..and run all of the hydrolics for the breaks.
after all taht is fabbed up and finished its off to powdercoating for a blue touch (our school colors...who ever gave the ok to coat it purple must have been high).
once this car is done we take it to wisconsin and compete...hopefully i will be one of the drivers.
until the comp...we get to have fun with our other 2 cars as well as this one on our practice course! heheh
i will post more photos up when we get fab completed prior to coating.
