Till then I plan on getting my new rims on, add some subs, get some dress up items for the engine and interior and maybe get a flame job but thats it for this car. I'm just happy that I won a trophy and didn't get looked over like the other shows I have been too. Usually they see its a 6 banger and won't even judge me When I go to a show I am just glad if they take the time to look at my car even though I don't win but this show had the most cars in it out of all the shows I've been to so far and I still can't believe I placed. Woot for me!!!

As a show regular (though yet to be at one this year), there are many factors when it comes to awards. It all depends on who is judgeing, categories, how many cars, etc...
As cars get older, the stocks ones have much more appeal. Mods, while fun now, won't win trophies on an old car. Things like original paint and extremely low miles play in part much more.
I was also a judge once. As such, you have to put personal taste on hold and be as objective as possible.
My friend's 1983 Mustang GT with 30k miles on it and original metric tires is an easy winner at a lot of shows. The car is showroom stock and in mint condition. 10 years ago, no one cared about the car and in truth, 1983 was not a great year for the Mustang, but the car is still impressively clean.
While pictures don't do it justice, purpledoggy's car appears incredibly clean and it probably had something to do with her collecting a trophy. If the car stays that way for 20+ years, no doubt it will rack up more awards.
Be happy for her fron pete sakes.

Thank you for the compliments Yeah I do think the only reason I won was because of how clean the car is. I wax it once a month and wash it twice a week to keep all the bugs and road grime off the paint. I also have plastic covers on the floors that come out right before the show and the only one who rides in the car is me so the seats never get used (except for the drivers seat). I think its a good looking daily driver. Everything I have changed on the car I still have all the stock parts so one day I can change it back to stock if I wish. Well the fog lights will have to stay since I cut the little bars that go across the hole.

are you guys trying to say that if i take off all of the mods i have on my car i will win more car shows! no! then it would be a stock 01 gt. you can see them everywhere (most car shows here wouldnt judge it). if it's a classic car (i dont mean just old cars) then yes its better to be original (but that's still an opinion). but a base model car thats only a couple years old? every parking lot would be a car show and the grand daddy of all car shows... you guessed it, the dealership parking lots. how fun would that be?
btw, i previously owned a pt cruiser that was my show car, won many trophies, nothing big, but it was a nice show car. it was an 01 that i think i paid $18k for it. when i sold it i got $23k and that was a couple months ago when you could buy a brand new 05 pt cruiser for $9,999.00 down the road at the dealership. the car had 61k miles on it. just goes to show that you dont always lose everything. although i admit 99.99% of the time you dont get back what you paid

ok?
Alright your saying you won your first car show but you got a top 50 award i bet if you looked at the votes you prolly werent in the top 10 i mean come on you dont have a gt soo theres nothing under the hood to show off i have a v6 but its modifications make it look different then any mustang around, and then you say i won my first car show its more like you placed in it not dissin your car it looks real real clean and well kept up.

The only thing aftermarket is a cobra hood, chin spoiler, clear foglights, and dual exhaust. There isnt even a GT with cutouts for the tips. Once again, the car is nice, but if that won a car show, were all the other cars sotck civics and cavaliers? Also...where do I sign up :happy7:
And yeah stock cars do win car shows. It just depends on what kind of show it is and how the judges are scoring. If its based on cleanliness a car with just a few appearance mods and a spotless interior and exterior could easily win a car show.

If you're going to make an argument, don't mention yet another part of the car that is stock. I said 2-3 times that I wasn't hating on the car itself. Of course it's nice-looking. But I was referring to car show nice-looking. At car shows, people put thousands into their cars. With her chin spoiler, foglights, dual exhaust, and grill delete, it doesn't seem like a car that would win a car show when others deck their cars out with aftermarket spoilers, hood, rims, exhaust, paintjob, etc. That was what I was referring to.
oh, and jen..nice gt

Thanks for the compliment on the GT. It was sold recently which is sad! But I put it in a car show and it lost to some hyundai with a huge stereo and thats pretty much it. The carpets were even dirty. Shows can be pretty bogus and screwed up sometimes. If her car was super clean...thats probabaly why she won/

It was sold because I just moved out with my boyfriend and he allready had 2 cars, an 01 Audi A4 1.8t which we drive every day...and an 03 Sonic Blue Cobra which I can drive whenever I miss the feel of a Mustang. But its much faster than the GT was. 450hp/450tq to the wheels. 11.76 1/4 mile. Heres pictures of that car.

I've been to 4 car shows so far, I have only gotten a trophy in one of them but I still had fun at every one. Some of the shows are looking for classic cars, most like the riced out civics, and others just have no clue what they are looking for. Here are some pics from some of the shows....
