Take 3-6 pictures with different exposure settings, merge them together in an HDR program like Photomatrix, adjust some things, and presto.

Best to have a tripod, and take the photos of still objects only.

Im planning on learning to take some soon too. I was looking around for guides and found this one pretty simple. This one walks you through using Photoshop CS2:

I've tried Photomatix to make some HDR pictures and they never come out right, I suck. I wanna make cool pictures too. Thats an awesome picture of that Cobra, doesn't even look real. Looks Computer generated or a cartoon or something.

yep, just like pcola said. Take 3-6 pics all at different exposures, some overexposed, some under exposed, put them together, and then you get pics like that. A tripod is really necessary in order to avoid having the image shift on you, if it does then it just looks blurry and out of focus.

I should have some HDR shots coming my way by tomorrow sometime. Hopefully they came out good.

I think it's easiest with Photomatix because they have this tone mapping feature which tweaks a lot of stuff. You can then put it into Photoshop for further editing. It's fairly simple to do, but it takes a low of tweaking to make it they way you want. That guy must have the trial version cause the watermarks are on there. Kinda ruining a good picture.

That has to be the coolest car picture I've ever seen. Looks like I've got some reading to do...
