Default My New Car Stero Syestem. '00 Mustang

Over the last two days I installed my brand new subwoofer and an amplifier, as well as a universal DIN slot pocket. I already installed Polk 6x9s all the way around, dynomat around the speakers, and a Pioneer deck earlier. The entire project was a learning experience for me as I had never done anything like this before. It was a lot of work, routing the power and RCA cables, soldering in the control wire to the amp, hiding the cables under the carpet, putting the sub box together, shrink wrapping, connecting it all... all in the 90 degree sun. In the end it was all worth it, I'm ecstatic at the way it all came out, looks clean and sounds awesome.

Parts List:
4X Polk Audio db691

Pioneer GM-5300T Amp

10" Unloaded Sealed Truck Enclosure

10" SUBWOOFER GRILL

Assorted connectors, shrink tubbing, cable ties, Exc.

The car is a little dirty, gonna wait till tonight to wash and wax it, too hot out ATM.

Trunk
(don't mind the Air Soft gun)

Still lots of room for things in the trunk.
Best of all, everything is attached with Velcro, so I can take it all out easily if I have too.

Thats where the clutch cable is on 5 speeds. Since his is auto, they just stick a grommet in there instead.

Yes, it was my very first time ever touching a car stereo system. For the power wire install; there was already a factory hole with a rubber grommet in that location on the car. All I had to do was cut a hole in the factory rubber grommet and then stick in the provided plastic grommet, then feed the wire through. If you look closely you can see the provided plastic grommet touching the cable, then the factory rubber one filling the rest of the hole.

Yeah, my friends and I play a lot of airsoft. I just got this gun and the thing is awesome. I played last night with some guys and they were covered with bloody welts at the end of the night from it.

I'm thinking of drilling a hole through the carpeting/fiberboard under the amp and routing the RCA cables through it. Then tucking the speaker cable that was running down the side of the amp under the carpet.

Through the magic of photoshop, this is what I'm thinking of. The black dot = the place I will drill the hole.

Comments?

/\/\go for it. looks better that way I think. I dont really have a trunk, so that looks like a ton of room to me.

i call shenanigans.

i had 2 10" Type R's in my trunk until recently. the box barely fit and there was not "alot alot" of space left in the trunk.

You smell fish too?

This is one 12" with a custom built box that was in my '98. Either his box is tiny and not built correctly or I call BS.

BTW: Great job on the system Tickz, looks great.

Yeah, all I can think of is an incorrectly/poorly built box that sounds terrible. My dual 10" box BARELY fit through the rear seat opening with the seat bracket taken off. It wouldn't fit through the trunk opening even with taking the trunk latch/weather stripping off.

The only way to get mine in/out was to remove the carpet, take out the spare tire, remove the trunk latch and set the box in the spare tire well.. lol

lol, i pondered with that idea since once i had the sub box in i couldn't access the spare tire/tire jack/tire iron anymore. i still wanted the carpet in the trunk though because i put small things in the trunk like my fishing stuff and school things.

it was a pain in the *** taking it all out last week though, getting the car ready to sell.
