While perusing the Ford media website today, we were greeted with the image you see above and Ford's first official acknowledgment that the much anticipated Mustang Bullitt will debut at the L.A. Auto Show in mid-November. Of course, we already know a lot about the Mustang Bullitt thanks to specs that were leaked earlier this month. We also know in general how the car will look, including its famous Highland Green paint and completely blank grille. Ford says in its little blurb (read it after the jump) that the car has the "perfect balance of power, performance and a look of quiet intensity."
Despite all the iterations of the Mustang that we've been forced to stomach from Ford and numerous other companies, this is the one we've been waiting for. It's good to know we won't have to wait much longer. After debuting in a couple of weeks, the Mustang Bullitt will officially go on sale early next year, according to Ford.
more info:
The crew over at the MustangBlog procured a copy of the 2008 Mustang Ordering Guide and after combing through the corporate doc they came across all the details of the beloved Bullitt Mustang.
On the outside, color choices will be appropriately limited to Highland Green and Black, while 18-inch Charcoal Satin Finish Euro-Flange rollers frame dark grey brake calipers holding on to Performance-grade Carbon Metallic pads up front. The 'Stang is dropped by Ford's Sport Tuned suspension kit that includes new shocks, springs and a stabilizer bar, while a Bullitt emblem faux filler cap, a spoiler delete and a new upper grille, sans Pony badge and fog lamps, completes the exterior adornments.
Performance-wise, the Bullitt gets the Ford Racing Power Pack, although we're not sure if it's just limited to the cold-air intake system or if it's the full monty, including new mass air meter, Ford Racing oil filter and new mufflers. The Bullitt will come equipped with a reflashed ECU, so we'd guess it's a bit more than just an intake, especially considering that the exhaust comes with 3.5-inch tips. A Ford Racing strut tower brace emblazoned with a serialized label stretches across the engine bay, while out back a 3.73:1 LSD makes sure the extra ponies make it to the ground. Ford decided to nix the space-saver spare in favor of a tire inflation kit, presumably to save weight.
Inside, a black interior with the Sport Leather Seat Appearance package accompanies aluminum accents in the form of a ball shifter, sill plates and pedal covers, while a custom steering wheel is fitted in place of the stock unit.
Now, if we can just get Dodge to release a comparably equipped Charger, we're going to set the team of Neff and Nunez loose on the streets of S.F.

There is nothing really special about this rendition of the Bullitt, there is no real power gains or anything. More of a marketing scheme in my eyes

for every real performance version made i swear there are 5-6 marketing gimmicks made.

Sounds pretty much the same as a CS. a couple small slight improvements.

When are they gonna produce something equivelant to the Mach1? a special edition with some real *****.

Sad thing is, until people quit spending 50k on these special editions, Ford is going to keep making them, because they are selling like hotcakes.

Am I the only one that does NOT want to see the return of the bullitt ?

I mean think about it.. Cobra - reproduced for several years, Cobra-R reproduced over a few years, everything "limited edition" about the bullitt became available on other mustangs a few years later..

But there is only ONE bullitt and its 2001.

Re-creating it is horseshit and will do just as ford did to ruin every other "limited edition" mustang by making it... not a limited edition.

what?

im sure it will be a limited edition just like the 2001 bullet....It will be a limited production run, AKA, limited edition.

They made a bullet in 2001. It aint like the mach 1 or cobra, all it really was is a rebadged GT with a better intake and brake setup. This isnt like they are destroying a classic or anything. Who knows, maybe they will make it even better than the origional bullet? wouldnt bee too hard to top that.

I'm aware of the changes, I owned a 01 TB Bullitt (#1131)

seats, gauges, floor mats, pedals, shift ****, bezel, wheels, side skirts, intake, valve covers, brakes, mufflers, exhaust tips, grille, no fogs, trans....

I think its stupid that the "limited editions" are readily available and NOT hard to get ahold of unless your talking 5.0 Cobra R where they made under 1,000 total.

There are under 5,000 bullits right now. There were over 10,000 03 cobras produced, + 04s. Same with the Shelby GT 500 and the Shelby GT.

The bullitt, IMO, is the only TRUE limited edition mustang.... or rather... it was.

The return of the bullitt actually pisses me much almost as much as that steve mcqueen 05 commercial a few years back.

True. Then again, these options really hold true to the mustangs heritage. Did you know the mustang was the first car to offer option packages?

I dont understand why some people want to get bent out of shape about new editions, special editions, or limited editions... who cares? Mustangs have more special editions than ANY OTHER CAR in the planet.

My point exactly, the bullets werent exactly all that impressive, they are just pretty rare.

Making a new run of bullets will not make the 2001 bullets any less rare.. seriously...

I really dont understand why yer freaking out. I say Bring on the Bullet. Im sorry it makes you angry. But i really dont see any reason to get all bent out of shape about this.

do you have any idea HOW MANY limited editions have been made? This is a part of mustang heritage.

None of which (except for one) is a true "limited" edition.

Every other one I can think of has been remade, and will continue to be remade. Shelby, Cobra, Cobra-R, etc

THERE IS ONLY ONE BULLITT!

All of those that have been released to the public. Saleen, Boss, SVO, SVT were reproduced or produced more then the bullitt.

Thats my point. A saleen and a roush are just a rebadged GT also...

5,600 Mustang Bullets were made in 2001.
5,700 40th Anniversary Edition Mustangs were made in 2004.

I have one of the 5700 40th Anniversary Editions. Only 3 colors were availavle, White, Black and Crimson Red. It came with Arizona Beige hood/trunk stripes. Aricona Beige rocker stripes, 40th Ann badging, 40th anniversary plaque, Painted Mirrors (cobra mirrors), Arizona Beige Bullet Wheels, AND 40th anniversary floormats.

So, since i have 1 out of only 5,700 made, and you have one bullet out of 5,600 made, where is that magical cutoff? lol... anything over 5,600 units??? Why is YOURS a real limited edition and mine is not?

Well mine is a True Limited Edition then. They will never make another 40th anniversary edition.

For the record I sold the bullitt.

They made a 35th edition, a 25th edition, there will be a 50th edition, etc etc

The 40th had some unique features like the arizona beige wheels, that did NOT show up on other cars... thats rare.

Im not trying to be a dick here ya know, but im really curiious as to why the Bullet is the ONLY Limited Edition.

There are TONS of mustangs that were limited production runs that they did NOT ever bring back, like the Boss 429, or the Mach 1 Twister, or the Playboy Pink mustang.....

I mean think about it.. Cobra - reproduced for several years, Cobra-R reproduced over a few years, everything "limited edition" about the bullitt became available on other mustangs a few years later..

But there is only ONE bullitt and its 2001.

Re-creating it is horseshit and will do just as ford did to ruin every other "limited edition" mustang by making it... not a limited edition.
haha, Im sorry, but there is only ONE Bullitt, it was in 68, came with a 390 and a four speed.

Ford came along in 2001 and tried to make something similar, but it will never be the same

that being said, Id drive the crap out of a DHG 01

yeah and in the 2001 all they really did was suspesion, and a different intake and a few other small items...

its nothing more than a marketing thing for them to re-introduce old version models in the new body style, and specially since the remake of the bullit movie will be out soon to for its debut, I am sure Ford will wanna have the car there for the movie debut.

hell if you look under the hood of the new s197 stock hoods, they have the imprint layouts of where the hood can be cut out for the mach1 shaker to come through...so I am sure thats not to far off in the books next!
