The New Look
Well, after my run in with a pothole last Sunday, I had to "borrow" a wheel off of the project car. $199 Nitto 555 Extreme junked cause of a pin hole in the sidewall
So, I am gonna try and work out a deal to trade out my Saleen inventory for some OEM Bullitts or Silver Cobra R's.

Yeah, 18's are becoming too rich for my blood. Might want to downgrade to a 17" setup. Got a guy locally who is looking into an even swap for some 17" Cobra R's with good rubber. Granted, I love the look of my car, but I can't see dropping $200+ every time I run over a nail.

Actually after looking at all of the wheels, apparently the 'rash' was actually just dirt (just washed the car today.)
All of the wheels look great, some very small minor scratches.. 3 out of the 4 tires are nearly perfect prob about 70-80% left, but one has about 50-60%. They are Kumho Ecsta Supra 275/40/zr17's..

Uhh... maybe i just dont know enough about nitto extremes, but if it is just a pinhole in the sidewall go get a goddamn tire repair kit and fix it.
I picked up a dresser foot that came loose from an old dressor i had, stuck in my tire, lot bigger than a freakin pinhole. got the repair kit, cored out the hole, put in the plug, torched it, and havent had trouble since.
is there something about nitto's that prevents basic repair?
or am i dumb or something?

I'd be interested in an even swap.. But Asheville is about 5hrs (300 mi) from me.. So, that could be a little bit of a stretch for me.. You ever drive through this area in the truck? Or atleast somewhat closer than that?

and Jack, you should never EVER patch or plug a sidewall ESPECIALLY a speed rated one.

If you can find out when you're going to be back in this area (within 100-150mi or so), Im willing to wait if you are..

i guess i could understand that it might comprimise the top speed of a fast car
fixing small sidewall punctures is not unheared of.

LOL!!! Yeah, hell, google it up, the only people who tell you not to do it are tire manufacturers. probably cause they want you to buy a new tire. lol...
other than that, i know it is a very very common practice with 4 wheeling, and most of those 4wheelin fools have to drive thier truck on the highway to and from the mountains.
if you dont trust it, then hey, no biggie, but a lot of plug kits claim to be able to do sidewall. The Canned stuff is garbage though. how far up is it on the side?

I was going to have it removed, patched from the inside, but I am getting some negative input on doing it.

if it was just a nail style puncture i's day patch it.
that does look a little iffy.

Keep in mind it has a little wetness around the hole so it may look worse than it really is. BUT, I would really consider junking it before using it again on a $15,000+ car.
