Cant help ya there, I have 25% all round which I suggest, but man if you do 50% on the sides, you will hardly tell you got those windows tinted. Sometimes I even think 25% is a little too light.... I don't know how strict the cops are up there in Virginia about Window tinting, but if you are getting it professionally done and will have to pay a good amount of money, gettin 50% tint would be a waste. Like I said you wont be able to see a big difference. Also with tint, who ever is doing your back window, make sure they dont do the top 4 inches of the window or the "dot matrix" part!!!! I had to learn the hard way. Either have them rub the dots down, not tint that part, or put a vinyl strip over it.

Damn... this is the best pic I have that illustrates my point. The guy put 25% tint on the entire rear window, but as you can see torward the top and especially near the right corner it start to get a lot lighter and "un-tinted" This is because the tint film is not sticking to the window. You cant see it, but my entire top 4 inches of my rear window look like that top right part. Been to lazy to fix it. Hope this helps!

Maybe this guy only wants to do the legal tint in Va cause he is a pro???? I dunno seems weird..... But like I said before, if your gonna spend that kind of money getting it professionally done, 50% tint is not worth it and is hardly noticable. IMO I think 35% is too light but hey, its your car! Keep looking around.

I'm gonna get tint soon too. I was thinkin of going 20% on the back 3 and 35% on the sides. Thats what the guy at the shop said. But another guy at a different shop said I'd most likely get away with 20 all around since I have a light interior.
And that pic is the first one I've seen of 35% on a mustang. I think I might want a little bit darker.
Also, a friend of mine got pulled over 4 hours after he got his tint installed for 20% on his side windows. Black interior tho.
What do u think?

You can try to argue it out with the 5-oh. I think the cop has to have a meter that can read the % of light that comes through. I have friends that have said to cops that their interior is dark too so it makes the tint look darker (they have gotten away with it). I went 5% on the rear and rear quarters and 35% on the fronts (an accident but one I'd happily do again). 15% on the windshield. Not sure how it is with coupes but the convertibles have tint already in the windows I think (or at least my '03 did from the factory). When I got the tint done it just compounded on top of what was already there. CA laws suck too but I haven't had issues...knock on wood! Just roll them windows down if you see those blue and reds! At night turn on the dome light too if you get nabbed so I'm told (exgfs dad was a cop). Gives them less to worry about from my understanding and hides the tint a bit better. Will post some pics soon. I was aprehensive at first when I went to get it done, but it is 100 times better with the tint.

My honest opinion: Go with 20% all the way around. Chances are that's not dark enough to get you pulled over. If it does get you pulled over tell the cop it was like that when you bought the car. If you go to court plead no-lo and tell the judge you removed the dark tint (just dont drive your car to court and they will never know). Or just tell them you have sensitive eyes and the lights at night hurt your eyes (<----- used that one before, if you wear glasses makes it more believable). Which if you get pulled over make sure to roll both front windows all the way down so reduce risk of cop asking, they never check the back windows. Also, if you do get pulled over and the cop uses the radar thing to gauge your tint, ask him when was the last time that thing had been calibrated and ask him to use it on the windshield. If it don't read 100% on the windshield he can't give you a ticket (or atleast one that will hold up).
35% on your car won't be that dark. My mom has a Black Colorado with 30% tint and you can see straight through it, barely looks tinted.
Just my $.02

I agree, I think 20% all around is perfect, I have 25% all around and sometimes I wish it was just a bit darker, but it still looks good. I think 20% is good because its dark enough to keep your car cool inside and is dark enough so you can barely see in, but light enough so you can still decently see cars outside at night. My recommendation is 20%.
