Is it just an on/off pressur sensor? I heard that once the engine reaches 6psi oil pressure it says that the pressure is "normal". If i was to hook up a mechanical guage in place of the stock one would it throw something off? Or does it HAVE to be plugged in?

 

no, that doesnt sound right and depending on what year your is, you can hook up a real pressure gauge and still retain the stock one...

 

its a 2000 gt. Where would i hook up the mechanical one? Should i just put a T connection so i can keep the stock one and have another input for the mechanical one?

 

yup, thats the ones, 1999 and 2000 are Windsors and ONLY have the one service port on the oil filter housing...you options are, "T" ing it, which I dont recommend, just using the port for a "real" gauge or getting a Romeo oil filter housing, which has a second 3/8" npt port....

 

so it would be ok to unhook the stock electric one and put in the mechanical one? How much is the romeo housing though, and it bolts right up to the Windsor block right?

ok thanks for the help. One more thing, where is a spot to plug in another mechanical temperature sensor? I heard its on drivers side by cylinder 1 but just making sure while i have everything apart and the room to work with.

I know there is a port for a cyl head temp sensor on the head but as far as I know, it does NOT enter an coolant passage, best bet is to tap the x-over......

 

where is the inlet on the cyl head?

i found it yesterday when i had the shorty headers off. Its by the freezeplug below the exhaust ports in between the back two cylinders. Thats where i plugged it it. Coolant came out when i pulled the stock plug out so i know i will have an accurate reading. Just for future reference. Thanks for your help Randy.

hey i have mechanincal volt, oil pres, and water temp. I'm a 2002 v6 3.8. Could you help me out with any of those?

the temp sensor goes in one of the freeze plug ports on the drivers side, the stock oil sensor can be removed and the mechanical inserted because it only gives a pressure reading and a not so accurate one at that, and the volts just hook it up to your fuses under the steering column to the left.
