Randy: Price Check On 2 Front o2 Sensors
Randy
Need a Price Check on the 2 Front o2 Sensors. Check Engine Came on today, so went to Advance Auto Parts and had them scan the codes for me. It came up with
P1131 - Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1.
P1151 - Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 2.
P0171 - System Too Lean - Bank No. 1.
Leads me to think that my Front o2 Sensors Are Bad.
Thanks
Andrew

DO NOT DO THIS:they are NOT the same, aftermarket electronics DO NOT work well on Fords. stay wth OEM when it come to sensitive electronic componets like IAC, O2's, IAT, TPS and such.......................oh and swervo, please refrain from giving advice like this in my forum

won't be needing the o2 Sensors after all. I reset the computer last thursday night, and they haven't come back on since...so I guess when I changed my air fitler (the old was really really nasty), it threw something off and didn't auto correct itself.
codes cleared, problem not recurring.

Why is it that the aftermarket sensors tend to act odd with Fords? When I had my Mustang I replaced all four of my O2 sensors with Bosch OE style sensors and I never had a problem with them. Was I just lucky?
Is there any explanation for this, or is it just some kind of a quirk with Ford?
Thanks for the info.

Randy, Im just asking this out of my own curiosity and so that I can pass this info on to my own customers.

sure, here is the reason. Ford builds a part to work wthing certain parameters, lets say A to D then the aftermarket(even being the same company, ie: Bosch) opens-up these parameters, say from A to E so that the aftermarket part has more applications then the Ford designed part. so the aftermarket parts may work "ok" but not be up to the fullest potential of the OEM Ford part

I was reading through this thread as I am having same problem with my o2 sensors. Same as above went to Advance and found that bank A & B need replaced. My understanding is that anyone can put these on. Did not realize there would be a problem buying aftermarket though. Are you any cheaper than going to my local Ford dealer and buying these?

you will need a 22mm or 7/8" socket that has a wide opening down the side of it, otherwise it will be a pain in the butt to crank that sensor out of the exhaust manifolds.
it looks like this
if you can find one on ebay they are about $10 - $20 shipped...otherwise a lot of places charge up $60 for the darn thing.
i got mine on ebay for $13.
