Default Guess what I did....

OK, as I'm sure no one here knows, I play for OU (#65). Well, monday night at the end of practice, I got blindsided by a linebacker and when I hit the ground, I tried to catch myself---bad idea. All 240lbs of me went into one arm and shattered my humorous right above the elbow. We're talking 3 main pieces and a bunch of little ones. It also destroyed all the ligaments in my elbow. But after 6 hours of surgery reconstructing my elbow and arm, I'm in a full arm cast and really don't feel too much pain. On the bright side, I don't have to go to practice for the next 2 weeks, but i still get to go to the games (you have to find something good to look at). I asked for copies of my x-ray's, so as soon as I get them, I'll post pics and show everyone. I guess that's the risk of playing D-1 football. Oh yeah----BOOMER SOONER!!!

Damn that sucks. How long are you out for? Sounds like it would have to be more than just 2 weeks.

Oh my god man....I hope you have a speedy recovery and get back in there.

On another note, what the hell happened to your squad against Colorado?

Wow, I did not know you played for D-1 FB. That is great. My brother played at ND under Ty Willingham.

NCAA FB has been completely CRAZY this year. Soo many upsets from every direction and there are so many teams that traditionally never are ranked.

Mizzo beats Nebraska

USC finally looses (hey, they can't win forever) and they loose to a shitty Standford Team

ND takes until OCT to win their first game.

Mich....starts the season miserably

Illinios beats Penn State....and WI and they are undefeated.

Miami continues to look like hell

Rice and Cin are both ranked

I could go on forever.

You are right, Illinois is 5-1 but they are 3-0 in conference.

well I wish you well in your recovery man. I played baseball in college and i know what it's like to be injured and have to sit out.

Yeah, my Trojans just absolutely **** on themselves this weekend. We are pretty banged up with several offensive and defensive guys out. USC is deep with talent, but not that deep....no college is. Plus our QB who was decent last year is just terrible this year. We have 3 backups that are better than him so hopefully we'll see one of them this week.

If they win out and beat Cal and Oregon we can still go to the Rose Bowl, but as much as I hate to admit this we'll probably end up losing 2 maybe 3 conference games. Like WaterDR said....can't win them all.

This has been a year where I'm just happy to see a W at the end of the day. I don't even want to overlook teams like Duke anymore.

man I'm sorry about your injury, but I have good reason to doubt your claim as an OU Football player.

I checked the OU Team roster on several different sports sites, and cross-referenced the name on your Xrays with the roster, and there is no Brandon Nofire on the OU Roster.

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefoo...OK?&_1:col_1=5

According to CBS Sportsline # 65 is Ben Barresi weighing in at 311, at 6' 5"

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefoo...yerpage/563850

ESPN.com has no listing for any #65

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/roster?teamId=201

The Oklahoman has no record of you being on the team either or a #65 for that matter.

I can understand your doubt, allow me to explain. I'm not on scholarship. I just got out of the Marines and was going to college at OU anyways, so I thought I'd give it a shot (making the team). So I tried out, and somehow didn't get cut. The onlinne roster hasn't been updated since before 2 a days, and I didn't make the team (on the finalized roster) until our first week. If you''d like, I can scan one of the programs with a current roster and put it on here. But I really am on the team.

its cool if you are, im just saying what i see from the websites and that you're not listed on any of their rosters.

not trying to disrespect, or dis ya, just thought it was strange is all.

also i feel your pain on your arm literally....i fell off a 2nd floor balcony, and broke the radial head in my right arm (elbow), because i put my hands out to stop the fall. i also cracked my right hip, but the xray didn't catch it, it took an MRI 3 weeks afterwards to discover that...so i been laid up since Sept 7 with this, and still have a week and a half to go before I can start walking and putting weight on my right leg, and week and a half before I can drive my car.

Congrats to boys over the win against MU tonight...i hate that school with a passion!

I was at Harpos (local bar) and the whole place went crazy when we took the lead, then it went dead quiet as we fumbled.

Well, just for an update, everything is healing perfectly and the cast comes off next week. The best news I've heard in a while is I've been cleared to play next year! As of now, I'm getting tortured 3 times a week with what the trainers call "rehab"...... Team's looking pretty good for the moment, we've got 4 more games to make a case for the national title game..... Oh, and for the disbelievers, go to www.soonersports.com, go to football (under sports), and look at the printable numerical roster. BOOMER SOONER!

Edit: MixedBreed, I have no idea who that Barresi guy is, I've never seen or heard of him. As for the ball, we're not allowed to do that, but if you're ever in the area, let me know, I get 4 tickets to every home game! 45 yrd line, row 15!

glad your arm is getting out of that cast, bet that feels good!

wish i could say i was doing as good. it's been sling for 2 weeks, 30 degree splint for 3 more, 15 degree splint for 3 more, now they've moved me into a dynamic spring loaded splint which is "supposed" to straighten my arm out (bullshit...cough cough) by adjusting the tension which forces my arm out straight to stretch the muscles.

they put me through 2, 2 hour torture session a week, and my arm just will not extend out..best I've gotten it to on my own without using my other arm to force it, is 20 degrees extension (putting arm straight out).

I am getting excellent flex (bringing hand up to shoulder), 141 degrees so far...normal is 150.

they keep feeding me this crap, that oh it's gonna get better, it just takes time, but really im not seeing any improvement, and my arm doesn't feel any better, it hurts and throbs all the time, and if I move it the wrong way too fast that just makes it worse. just all guess work in a white coat if you ask me...dumb bastards don't know their *** from a hole in the ground.

so i'll probably end up with a disability rating, and partial loss of use of my right arm.

About the only thing I coulld tell you is to get drunk and make a point of trying to straighten it out. That's how I've been doing it for the last couple of weeks now. That sucks that they decided to leave you immobile for that long, the reasons that you said are the ones they told me for putting me in a moveable beace after the first week. It was a pretty big chance, since I could still break my arm EASILY, but I wanted full range back so I could still play. Just keep working at it, you'll get it!

damn dude! you even broke yours after mine, and I still can't straighten mine out...we got 25 degrees out of it today. i don't get it. the therapist keeps telling me I will still be able to do everything i could before, but just not straighten it, and i'm like "That's like me buying a brand new Shelby GT500 with a huge dent in the door. The car can still do everything it did before, but it's got this huge *** dent in it. who the hell wants that? I dont want a grotesque arm that hangs at weird angle. im so freakin' mad, and starting to get depressed over it...everything i do, all the exercises, strengthening, the spring loaded sprint, just seems to not work. i dont know what else to do.

Just keep working on it man. Don't feel too bad about me beating you on it, the doctor keeps bringing in OU med students to look at my "miraculous" recovery. Remember this, I learned it in the Marines, pain is mind over matter; if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! Now, go get some alcohol and a friend and straighten your arm out!

Congrats on your ongoing recovery....I think Mixbreed also has to realize you are a division 1 college football player at a major university. The quality of trainers, training facility ect... are probably among the best in the country so not to sound like a jerk, and not saying his treatment is bad, but it doesn't suprise me that you are recovering a little faster. OU and other major colleges make big investments in their athletes so they make sure the kids get the best treatment.

no you hit it right on the dot, my treatment sucks...they only have someone working my arm twice a week, for an hour each time. I've been complaining about continuing and worsening pain, and all the doctor says is "I don't know why you're having pain like that" and so he prescribes me another medication. he should have been setting up MRI to find out WTF is going on.

then the stupid nurse case manager who was assigned to my case by the workmans comp company, was supposed to have setup therapy appointments on wed & fri for my right hip, and it's been over 2 weeks, and this lady still hasn't done it. They have made it obvious they don't care about me recovering, so they will get to explain that to the judge when we go to trial. And from what I understand, stuff like this really pisses a judge off.

my attorneys have been on her like stink on rice, and she just ignores them, but that's ok, the W/C Company is gonna get the crap sued out of them for neglect, and the Nurse Case Manager will probably have a malpractice suit on her hands.
