Hello. First off, I have been searching for the best Mustang forum, and this is the chosen one! Nice format, and I look forward to talking with other members, and interacting.

For a little background, my name is Greg. I live on the East side of Columbus, Ohio. I have had four Mustangs in the past, including a 73 Mach 1 351C as my first car, an 83 GT 5spd T-tops, an 84 GT Turbo 5spd, and an 89 LX 2.3...OK, I guess that's 3 and a half.

It has been awhile since I had the 89, and although I love all bosystyles and years of the Mustang, I fell in love with the 2005 body style. I have wanted one since they came out. Well, I was looking online a couple weeks ago, just to see what was out there, and I came across one I had to have. I talked the wife into just going to "look", and the next thing I knew, we were both in it taking it for a test drive. After a couple days of bickering, I went again to look at the car, and ended up bringing it home.

Anyway, it's a 2006 Torch Red GT, 5spd, charcoal leather interior, Shaker 500, and every power option I know of, except for heated seats- if they were even available in 06. Matters not, as the car will be a weekend cruiser, in nice weather only. Anyway, in addition, it also has the 18" 5-spokes. Add-ons consist of a Roush hoodscoop, rear spoiler, and carbon fiber dashboard, console, and window switch accents. Also, quarter window louvers, quarter panel scoops, and a pretty wild red, white, and blue Mustang grille emblem. Also has a rear black-out panel between the taillights- like the old Mach's, and a Hurst short-throw shifer with a chrome bezel.

Today was the first day I have really got to drive it. I took a 110 mile cruise and enjoyed every single mile of it, before bringing it home and tucking it away safely in the garage. It has 24K on the odometer, and although the car will be driven, I don't expect to put more than 4K on it per year.

At any rate, it's nice to once again be a Mustang owner! Again, I look forward to talking about my favorite "obtainable" sports car and icon- The Ford Mustang!

Thanks,
Greg

Thanks to all for the responses...and Stephen- thanks for the opinion. I totally agree with the stripe thing. I have associated them with the V6's, not the GT, but it's there. In addition, not only does it say Mustang, it has "GT" after it, which is real close to the GT fender badge. Pretty redundant

As for lowering, yes, i'd like to lower it somewhat, but would not get crazy with it. It might be awhile before I can do that though, as I have too many irons in the fire so to speak.

Future plans appearance-wise is tinted windows, and possibly headlight covers- providing they won't scratch the paint. I am also thinking about painting most of the hood black, like a 69-70 mach 1...but at the same time, I am not really sure I want to start scuffin' up factory paint, and painting over it.

As for the GT/CS scoops, I will have to look some up to see how they differ from whats on there. Also, I wish the quarter window louvers were cut out so you could at least see out of them somewhat.

I dunno...Winter is not far away, so I will have some time then to think about it. Right now, I just want to drive it before the snow flies. Supposed to be in the 40's tonight, which is depressing.

Thanks again everyone,
Greg

Naaaa...Actually, the fit and finish is great. They are uniform around the edges, and there is like a rounded seal underneath it that looks factory. I do wish they were cut out though, so you could see out of them. It's the Roush ones I don't care for much. They have a weird looking shape.

As for the side stripes, again, I agree. I don't think they were factory, as although I could be wrong, I don't recall ever seeing a factory one that said "GT". It was just redundant though, with the GT fender badges basically right beside them. I took them off Friday, cleaned the residual adhesive off, the polished and waxed where they were.

I think it looks alot cleaner, or not as "busy" with the stripes gone. Heres a pic.

Thanks,
Greg
