Default Left the tuner world and upgraded!!!

Hello All...My name is Kelley I am from Kenosha, WI. A few buddies of mine told me about this site and said I should join up and check it out.

I am a military guy who spent his time in the navy and went home with an honorable, then I got down to real life and making money. That brought me some toys and I got caught up in the tuner world.....I am now out of it after some bad luck with people vadilizing my car several times i didnt feel it was worth the money to get it back to its original shine so I put some money down on a 2003 MACH 1. I might not get this one with financing but, I will get one somewhere. I will know friday for sure.

here is a pic of what I had.....I KNOW, I kNoW you dont even have to say it (white stuff boiled in a pot eaten with chop stick.....I KNOW LOL)

so that project is done and dead. Its been made a daily driver, this is a pic from the dealer's website on the car I have money down on:

I'm off now to search the boards for info on it and find out what I can do to it

.....Nice site. Take care.

yeah one thing I did was get rid of the stock gray by painting everything blue or black. The good news (if there was any about painting) was that I did it right and over the 2 years it was there NEVER chipped or scratched off. The bad news is I grew out of that stage pretty quickly and it was too late to go back....so no painting crap for me.

Needless to say I wont be doing that with my stang when I get it but I will change some stuff. The leather interior wont need much help but some nice suede wrapped accents should do the trick nicely.

I am so excited about this project. Kinda stuck on wheel styles though. I want something with a lip

maybe something like the modenas?? I like the saleen wheel but realize its a little overdone around my area. dunno?? want something different?

Welcome.

Keep in mind that a Mach1 is kind of special and most buy them to keep them pretty much the way they are. It is already a tuner car, just with a VIN. IMO, if you want to mod a lot, stick with a GT. Don't get me wrong, a Mach is a great platform, in fact the engine has a lot more potential. I just don't see paying a premium for a car where you are just gonna make it less like a Mach anyway.

As an example, the main difference on the Mach 1 are the following over a GT:

Functional Hood Scoop
3 valve motor with forged internals (5 speeds only)
upgraded brakes
special wheels
upgraded suspension
special interior

If you change the above items, you really don't have a Mach 1 anymore.

BUT, there are things you could do to make the Mach 1 more awesome such as:

Nice exhaust, Deep Dish Mach 1 rims, some suspension tweaks, blower etc... These things don't detract from the Mach styling or the car itself, yet make the car better.

Just my opinion.

^^ Hey thanks for that info!!

I like everything about the mach. Including the interior. I dont thnk I would change anything there major except maybe a speaker grill or something for sounds. Dont know? thats where the suede comes in just highlights to matcht the lighter color in the seats.

The one thing about the mach that makes it that (exterior wise) is that shaker hood and the striping as you know already.

I like it all except the striping and the spoiler. I know the reason they did it in tribute to the original mach's but dont feel the flat black?

Just me. Thats the only exterior thing I would change with exception of wheels but I dont know how I would change it? Maybe change it to a gloss black?? dunno? Performance wise there is an exhaust on it. I dont know what kind, I couldnt read the lettering on the exhaust tips but the rest is stock.

I have so much to learn about this car that I am just gonna shut up and listen to those who own them for a bit since this will be a garage baby for me..I have a daily driver. this is my monster toy!!!

THX for the info guys....keep em coming

Mach 1s are 4v...not 3v...

And I think putting rims,or changin the exterior on a mach doesnt make it not a mach 1...alot of people put rims on mach 1s, and alter the exterior....because it looks good..

the non-supercharged 4v and the shaker make the mach 1 IMO...

do what you want with it, it's your car

Great looking Mach! You'll love the car because everytime I get into mine I just smile. I agree with MT#1Customer. One correction.....Mach 1's have 4 valve engines.

I have been very careful in modding my mach because I don't want to destroy the integrity of the car. This is a very cool website and people are very helpful, but if you really want to learn about your Mach 1 go to www.mach1registry.com forums and you'll find everything you could possibly want to know about the car.

Nope. I knew it was an 18 second joke car. I had the full header, exhaust, intake, throttle body upgrades done and it was still a joke. that was strangely enough for points at shows for the more mods done.

My cavy didnt belong on the track. I would drive by it but, never on it LOL

Lunati: I was stationed a coronado. I started as an HT but then went to dive school and came out a 2nd class diver performing salvage and rescus dives. Stayed for 5 1/2 years only because they extended me while on west pac.

Welcome, Just get deep dish Mach 1 wheels. If you paint the rear wing black it can always be reversed as it just a paint on a small part. The only thing I would do is add a supercharger keeping the shaker hood functional. He is a pic of the wheels. I am doing a really big change but its on a GT as I dont think I could ruin a Cobra or any other special ed stang.

wheew! definitely a #32 rice special with a side of too much paint job, but, it shows you know what you are doing... put that effort into your 'stang and it will be sick (i had a '95 'ccord before this... cars are just damn fun)

guys....with this shaker hood. Is there any precautions I should take when washing it. Really a noob question but I havent had a car like this before. I usually use a car wash at the body shop that does my work. They have a wash without a track that damages wheels and its touchless, automated. Nice wash but dont want to blow **** down into places it shouldnt be.

I feel like a noob cause it would be no differnt than rain I would think but had to ask.

don't those only open up when accelerating? at least in a car wash it would be closed, right? or am i think of a completely different type of hood scoop?

Welcome man, glad you finally got smart and bought a stang. An awesome stang at that. Why dont you just wash it by hand? That way you'll know it wont go into the shaker and down into the filter. It shouldnt but you never know.
