Anyone have experience with a magnapack cb with a slp catted x-pipe. Reason why im asking is that I want to be able to pass emissions with keeping the cats. What do u guys think would be a good mid-pipe to go with?

Slp or magnaflow ss are 2 of the best for catted pipes. I would try to get some clips of them 2 and find the one you like better.

A couple of things i suggest. I don't know how strict emmssion checks are in your state but here in texas, inspectors never go underneath the car to check and see if the car has cats. If you go with a O/R midpipe and get a set of MIL eliminators your car won't throw out any codes. As long as your car doesn't throw a code you car will pass, that is of course the inspector doesn't do a visual check underneath your car. When i had my o/r h, i always passed inspections everywhere i went and got some compliments as well! :)

IMO if you wanna have a good loud muscle car sound O/R mid pipes are the way to go. But thats just me. :o

My Magnaflow X has cats, and with the Magnapacks I think it's perfect. The X really woke up the CB :)

What in the?...a shorty x-pipe would only be used should you have longtube headers!

brady281 09-17-2005 02:55 PM

go to steeda.com, and in their exhaust section they have MagnaFlow "Shorty" X-Pipes.

brady281 09-17-2005 02:56 PM

...says you keep your stock cats on with that

Lances03SVT 09-17-2005 03:04 PM

Yea here it is http://www.steeda.ca/catalogue_product_type_465.asp I would go aftermarket X,the stock converters suck. You would'nt notice much of a difference with that.

huuummmm, checked it out, thats the first time i have seen one of those...I don't know how you would gain any more power, since you really arent chaging anything except the Mid pipe design. You will get a different sound tone with going with an x compared to the stock h. You will see no gain as you still get to keep the stock restrictive cats. Aftermarket high-flow cats or no cats is what what will yield you some gains!

would a catted slp sound different from a catted magnaflow pipe?

I honestly don't think so as they are the same design, all you're buying is the brand! ;)

Lances03SVT 09-17-2005 03:12 PM

They sound a little bit different but not that much. The Magnaflow X is all one piece and the SLP is a modular system which alows you too go no cats if you want too.

brady281 09-17-2005 03:14 PM

how much did u pay for your magnaflow x-pipe??.. would slp be a little cheaper?

Lances03SVT 09-17-2005 03:16 PM

Mine was $375 plus shipping $400 total.Pretty close to the same price.

brady281 09-17-2005 03:17 PM
