Default Stroker kits

I am trying to find info on stroker kit. Anyone know of a good site or have any info they would like to share. I plan on doing a stroker and supercharger and headers and cams, I know I will need injectors and a tune, what else? Going to run 3.90 gears and get it lowered. No body mods except the 17 x 10.5 rear wheel. That way when I go to the strip I'll hear all those people calling it a dumb*** stock GT. Then I'll crank her up and filp them off.

I can't stand the punks at the track talking trash about my car when they are driving aound in Cobra's their mommy bought them. I wish some of yall lived around here so you could smoke them and I wouldn't have to wait so long to to kick them in the nuts. Show them that they need to go out and get a job so they won't be so slow. stupid punks. get a job. use your own money.

OK I'm done.

p.s. this is not directed at anyone here.

thanks
paul

What's up Paul,

Sounds to me like you've had an altercation with a Cobra owner. Being confident and poking around a bit is one thing...but being a jackass is another. Sorry if the Cobra owner(s) down there act condescending, But then again GT driver's can get the same way. Live and let race, everyone's out to have a good time so don't worry about anyone else but yourself. Just a little advice/consolation. Now on to your post.

A stroker on any modular motor is not something that I, nor any reputable engine builder or Modular Guru would recommend. Increasing the stroke on these mod motors results in a serious sacrifice in block stability among "other" problems.

On a stroker the bottom of the piston actually comes clear of the Cylinder skirt...dangerously so. You're playing Russian roulette with this, and eventually the motor will fail. It's just not a viable option for the 4.6 (or 5.4 for that matter.)

What you CAN do however is if your hellbent on increasing Cubic inches go with a Big Bore setup 3.552in. -> 3.70in. Bore. This is accomplished by having the block sleeved (Wet or dry depending on your application.) Dry sleeving being the cheapest, and Wet Sleeving requiring a bit more machine work and setup time ($). A Big Bore Makes more HP and Torque across the range, then does a Stroker 4.6 and does so without a decrease in block stability (unless excessive boost is used on Dry sleeve [Boost > 15psi])

I am not sure how much "bang for the buck" this motor setup will be, as most Big # Modular motors are Forced Induction. It can be done however! But if you plan on getting a forged rotating assembly, you may as well shell out the few extra shell's for some more Cubes, and a broader torque curve. Big Bore does make a bit more difference on the 4V motors (not to get ya worked up) but this is due to the unshrouding of the valves and the intrinsic properties of the 4V powerplant. It will CERTAINLY make more power then a stroker for your application though, and if you increase compression etc. and get a balanced rotating assembly you'll be very pleased, and will be able to put the hurting on many cars including mild-> moderate Bolt on Cobras (and some unsuspecting stock 03/04's)

Here is some more Info for you Regarding Strokers
Corral GT/SOHC forum STROKERS
Modular Depot SOHC/2V Forum STROKERS
And Info Regarding Big Bores
Modular Performance: The Definative Modular Engine Builder BIG BORE PAGE
Corral GT/SOHC forum BIG BORE 305
Modular Depot SOHC/2V Forum BIG BORE 305

There ya go. Both Corral and Modular Depot (Modular Depot being a little more hardcore) have TONS of info regarding 2v's. Read up, post up, gain knowledge and research before you do anything (which is Good that's what your doing!)

Hope this helps.

And just so you know: I pay my Rent, my insurance, my college tuition, my books, my gas, my clothes, my food, my Car Mods, my Nitrous Refills....all on my own, and have since I owned the car

See ya at the track Chief!

Ok....wow...thanks for the info. I don't think I want to go through the process of trying to find a place around here to bore the engine or for that matter just pulling it and rebuilding it if I sent it off. Also I don't want to possably shorten the life of my motor with the stroker since I have finally gotten the car I have wanted since I was a kid.

Since I don't know a whole lot about Mustang motors and what they can handle, how about helping me out. This is what I would like to achieve and you tell me if I am on the correct path and what problems I may encouter like with the motor, clutch, and tranny. I can spend up to 7,000 to 8,000, but it would be great to do this for a lot less and it will be about a 10 months to a year before I can start the major purchases. This car is a daily driver and will not see the track but every once in a while.

I know I want a supercharger (turbine not screw type) maybe 10 or less psi. I also want the car to have a good lick to it, I know this will take cams probably stage two for the sound I want. I love my exhaust but I want to add headers and if that requires I will add an offroad H-pipe or prochamber(if it sounds good). I do not want an X-pipe. My exhaust is stock except for the single chamber mufflers. Is there headers that will bolt to stock or should I go with long tube? I know I will need injectors and tune. Will I have to get a better fuel pump? Do I need to change the TB when I add the supercharger? Like I said I am new to trying to boost the power on a Mustang and any help is GREATLY appericated. Oh and I would rather not use nitrous.

The comment I made about Corbra's was not about any other Cobra owners. I would love to have bought a Cobra, just not enough money at the time. It was some punks at the track and a couple that live around here. When I was at the track I meet a couple of 5.0 owners and a Saleen owner. We ran against each other all night and had fun cutting up. I beat them to the line everytime but it was NOT because of my car. Their cars would just spin the tires. The best time I could manage was a 15.3, (me and a friend in the car = 600 lbs, VERY slick track, and 95 degree air temp, gotta love Alabama). I know my car was actually slower than theirs and I told them that and we had a good time. I know my place in the pecking order. It is a GT. Thats it. Exhaust and intake. Thats it. I go to the track to have fun, meet people and drive fast. Not dog other people cars that they have worked hard for, If those kids had to go out and get jobs and pay for their stuff they would have a different attitude. oh and when I say kids I mean High School. No offense to anyone here. Because everyone here seems to get along and have a good time like at the track, not pick people out and dog their cars.

Sorry this is so long, I wanted to make myself clear,

Thanks for the help,
Paul
