Default Another GEAR question

I will be getting the ford 3.73 gears VERY soon from MT. I notice that u can add either a MASTER BEARING KIT or INSTALLATION KIT with the gears. would either be nessesary to order? i have only 34,000 miles on the car should i getthe bearings? and I am having a local Stang shop install the gears ...should I get the INSTALLLATION KIT? or is that just for people that do the install themselfs????????

Most shops will either make you provide the installation kit or they'll charge you an extra 75-100 for it on top of labor. I would find out how much the shop charges for it and compare it with the price here.

Get the insallation kit.Any time you take something apart do whatever you can to keep from having to do it over. Also use synthetic gear oil with friction modifier when you refill.

Most shops charge like 50-75 for the "install kit", and 100-200 for a master bearing kit. Our prices are pretty good for both I believe. Bearings might not be necessary for a low mileage car. I personally put new bearings in when I did my differential though, at 50k miles.
