You will need P&P heads,vt/comp cams, full exhaust, plenum, and all supporting mods as well like pullies, cold air, ect...and a good tune of course!

Couldnt you just go with a K &N filter, instead of a cold air intake!? I heard they are no good! I too wanna reach at least 300hp!! Im goin with 4.10 gears for my next mod!

Yes a simple drop in k&N will do just fine!

Most 4V swap cars make over 300rwhp with just a couple bolt-ons; i.e. intake and exhaust depending on who assembles it for you...and that's even with B series heads.

Or you can go the Full-Tilt Bolt on GT, get the 2V's ported, intake ported, pullies, Aluminum Flywheel, Longtubes, full exhaust, etc. etc.

Minimum 4.10 gears no matter what!

I wanna know what my Cobra can do after I shove this TKO 500 and 3.73's, plus a 26 Spline Clutch into it. Tranny is lighter weight so it should save me a little weight there. Exhaust is the next thing to be done, followed by a new throttle body (DAMN THAT BUTTERFLY TB!!), or vice versa. I already have a chip in that sucker, so all im gonna need is just the parts to fill the tune!

OOO Boy but do I wanna know what rwhp I might be pushin then *dreams*

What other mods do you have MTShambles. And why the upgrade in Tranny / clutch, you must have bigger plans in order?

And I'll say this once, since you work for MT, return the 3.73's and get 4.10's MINIMUM. You probably won't be dissapointed with 3.73's...but you'll never know what it couldve been like with 4.10's. Of all the items you listed above, the only one that will make the car noticably quicker will be the gears...so Please please please get 4.10's. Depending on what other mods you have those other things fall into place. I've never seen or heard of a throttle body make HP, in any application, Forced induction, N/A, Nitrous etc on the DOHC.

Umm did I mention 4.10's?

One more time for those in the back...

4.10 GEARS

P.S. Not trying to hijack.

Only reason im going 3.73 is because I do highway driving every day. The tranny/clutch issue is because of three synchros being bad in my current T-45. Instead of wasting money on a rebuild, im putting in a new TKO 500 with a 26 Spline clutch. That will last me worlds longer than what ive got right now.

Underdrive pulleys and Exhaust are up on the list of things to do, just havnt gotten around to doing them yet (more the exhaust than the UDP).

Shambles...My car is a daily driver, and I make a 200 mile round trip every week in addition to driving to school and work everyday. The 4.10 gears might make a marginal difference in gas. I for one cannot tell you that the 4.10's eat gas any more than stock...much less would you be able to tell the difference between 4.10 and 3.73.

I'm just trying to give you a heads up. The performance difference from 3.73 from 4.10 is in far greater proportion then the gas consumption difference.

I still get 23-24 mpg on the highway with the gears if I behave. That's just as much if not a bit more than before the gears. if I had to do it all over again, I would have 4.30's in my car...and I don't anticipate it would make gas consumption any different.

Not busting your chops just trying to reiterate from my personal experience.

Full exhaust (long tubes),pulleys,TB,plenum, tuned,CAI, with a set of cams with higher lift and more duration like the VT stage 2's or COMPCAMS 270's will go over 300rwhp in a manual car.

So, what are the chances that the driveshaft will be the right length or the cross-member will fit right? Get that info.

You want 300 ponies out of a 2V 4.6? Get a stroker kit and get ready to do alot of dissassembly. It's alot of grunt work but you'll never regret the torque you'll get.

a stroker is not necessary to achieve 300 rwhp on a 2v!

In reality if you just wanna see the number 300 on your dyno sheet, don't change the rear gears. You put up higher numbers with a numerically lower gear. As for what you wanna do, I can honestly tell you it would be the same money for a blower.
You'll need heads P/P----$2000
Cams-------------------$600
TB/PLenum--------------$420
Pulleys------------------$150
CAI---------------------$150
LT Headers--------------$400-500
Midpipe/cat back---------$800
-----------------------------------------
That equals----------------$4620!!!!

You can buy a nice N02 kit....with all the best safety stuff, get a custom tune, make an easy 330rwhp and MEGA torque and have $3000 in your pocket. Not trying to talk you out of what you want to do, just some ideas from someone who once had the same aspirations as you.

Nos kit : $700 bucks
Cupholder switches: 100 bucks
good "safe" tune 300 bucks
blowing up your engine 2 days later becuase your using nitrous: Priceless

Even though N/A cars will never make as much power I def respect them because thats a good amoutn of HP w/o forced induction...and with the rigth gears, that can be a monster

I am NA....I know all about NA. But the reality of it, is that NA is more expensive and you make less power. Not to mention radical NA's tend to have more driveabilty issues and are harder to tune. Just giving him some food for thought.

Driveshaft needs a small spacer and the crossmember is going to be moved up a little bit. Nothing major in the ways of modifications are needed here.
