Default New Motor build

Hello I have a 96 gt mustang and I would like to start to build a new motor. Im looking to get in the 400-450 hp range, on a budget of about $5000, give or take. I thought about using a 5.4 block and going from there. I dont want to use a turbo or procharger. I currently have nitrous and plan to keep it as of right now. Not sure as far as heads and cams . Right now im looking for suggestions to lead me down the right road. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Joe

400 to 450 is gonna be about at the limits of the stock bottom end. Since you already have gas on the car, put a forged bottm end in the motor and turn the gas up. Get a kit from MMR or some of the other brand name builders, a little head work since you have the non PI heads and hang on.

What is done to the car already? Oh yeah WELCOME.

I have been on here before but I could not remember my user name and password. I have 75 mm tb, a pi intake (that I bought from you tuff4.6) 4:10 gears, 3550 transmission, king cobra clutch, 90 shot of nitrous, short throw shifter, off road h pipe, flowmaster mufflers. Do you think i should stick to my stock block , it only has about 55k miles on it?

Yeah, joeboy or something like that ........right? Thats not alot of miles. How about this setup then. A set of the new Trick Flow Heads that have been worked a little more and some Comp Stage 2 Cams with upgraded springs and a set of long tube headers. Then a real good tune.

This should put you the 300-320 rwhp range and add a 100 or 125 shot and you are there. You can drive this setup daily without any problems and the gas is there if needed.

We'll see what other people say when they chime in.
