Default Sooty Spark plugs on LH head only.. Help

Hey everyone, need a lil light shed here.. I am one of those can swap parts and what not...but diagnose is something i am no good at.. Ok.. 98 gt NPI heads, etc...anyways had Bosh 4 Prong spark plugs in for a long time..did an oil change and change plugs to specified suggest auto store for motor craft plugs..cost 5.99 each.. anyways..car worked when i changed them when the engine was warm still..drove to friends house, and back.. Then the next morning tried to start...no good..
check the spark plugs and LH side was all sooty and dry...RH plugs were normal and new looking for having 35 miles on them...

Any light???

LH head running too rich? But why won't it start now?

Is it the change of plugs with the addition of a few bolt ons??? This idea does not sound good but possible?

Check fuses: OK!

I tried loading up diablo predator tuner, even that won't load up to choose stock tune.. I turn key when asked to on tuner and it wouldn't take..forget what it said..but it wasn't normal lol..

Gonna probably take it to the shop anyways...but really curious if its something stupid simple and cheap..

Thanks!

Sounds like a problem with the O2 sensor, either its bad or you've got a exhaust leak on that side.

If nothing else, try feathering the throttle when you try to crank it. That worked for me when I was having tune issues, i.e. running way rich.

Thanks for prompt suggestions Morgan!

Hrm.. got bbk shorties on..Through the tuner i thought i turned off the o2 sensors and related stuff..
If it were an exhaust leak that causes it...it would be between the head and the header correct? ( if this is the case I should have soot escaping from header gasket area?)
Any visual wear on o2 sensors to show they crapped?

I was also wondering why my diablo tuner wouldn't load properly also, to show me codes...powers on...reconizes it...asks to turn key to ignition...but as for the rest of the steps it won't go..

You just turned off the rear O2's

Yeah you should be able to tell, if it is.

well the front O2's control the fuel trims, so if it was a leak it would see it as lean, so it would add fuel to compensate. No real visual way to check it, unless you've got a scanner that can do more than pull codes.

I couldn't really tell you whats going on with the diablo.

K ...unbolted and did number stickers etc.. i can now pull out injectors.. seen just a tiny bit of surface rust on just part of the injector..Should I be concerned or this is normal?

While im at it , I outta clean the injectors huh..

Calling it good for the day... Have to buy larger wrench to unscrew o2 sensor.. Didn't try very hard with the "wrong tools" (vice grips and C wrench)...

Hoping after this is done it will solve my problem.. I do remember smelling a lil extra gas from exhaust....very easy to smell that really with side exhaust..

Also my spark plugs will still be fine after this is all said done i hope.

screw the wrench, just get an O2 sensor socket, they are at the parts store.

Well took off intake, plenum some hoses...did a little bit of minor cleaning.. got some MAF cleaner from Oreillys .. let it sit a few days after figuring out what to do.. Tried removing o2 sensor but obviously had no anti seize on the threading.. bought the o2 sensor socket and couldn't get it still..

Pretty much said Fuq it..put it back together.. double checked everything.. replaced 1 tube on the backside of the plenum that was getting dry rot..hooked up the battery and it started right up...let it recharge the battery for 10 mins.. removed diablo tune and put to stock.. shut it off a few times to make sure...
will check in the morning...

OMG do not listen to orielly people.. i told em the same symptoms as i posted atop..
The guy started going on about just random crap...too funny

anyways just happy it is going properly..
