Default estimated numbers

I just got all my money in order and sat down and figured out that I can pay off my car around spring at the latest. So Im gona buy another car around next summer time. Ive really looked into buying another gt like mine with lower miles and a manual but adding cams, longtubes, catted h, catback, and obviously a dyno tune for more power. My main question is how much to the wheels should that put down and my goal is a 12 second car. Just wondering if this will do the trick. Ive thought about just porting the heads too while the cams are being put in. Also how much power will the porting add to that combo. Ive looked around and couldnt really find the straight forward answers I want. Thanks in advance for the help

There is no point of porting the heads, for the price you might as well just dish out the extra cash and get the Trickflow heads. I would say full bolt ons + cam should put you around 300-315rwhp depending what cam and on your tuner. With a good tire/suspension set up I don't see a reason you shouldn't hit high 12's with that kind of power.

edit: I would say you can expect another 30rwhp if you had a nice port done on the heads.

Sorry I should of put in there that you are going to want to go with a good cam as well. Which you might as well since the heads will be off and that is the time to do it. Without a cam I don't know if you would see that kind of gain, but lt's,ported heads, and a cam. I would say you will pick up some nice power and have a hell of a reliable DD.

You could just throw on a supercharger and hit 12s. If you pieced the kit together, then you would spend less than the cams, longtubes, exhaust, heads, etc. Especially if you pay for someone to install it would be way cheaper to just got with the blower. The kit I pieced together cost about $1700-1800 for everything.

90% agree with you, turbo it and dont sweat the rest...matter of fact for what you want...you're done with a nice turbo kit, dont put a supercharger on your stang when you can turbo it for nothing. I have a supercharger and I wish I had a turbo kit.

Turbos cost way more for our cars than a supercharger. More work involved too.

I agree. Turbos are way too expensive for what you get compared to a supercharger. The only turbo I trust would be a hellion system and for my car thats 6 grand. Thats just for the kit and Id still probably need install and dyno tune costs. Especially when I had a local shop quote me 5800 for a procharger HO kit, tune, and install

Technically... he is right saying there is no sure answer... Every motor will respond different to the SAME mods... and the SAME tune... your car might get an extra 20hp over the car next to you with everything the exact same... or you might get 20hp LESS... so in all honesty... he was giving you the right answer...
