Obd2 port light
The light on my obd2 port blinks when the car is off and some times when it's running any idea why
I was unaware that there is even a light in there.
It's a little red led

are you sure it's not some dealership thing that can stop your car from turning on if you miss a payment? |

I've never seen an led there. Do you have an aftermarket alarm or something?

i've never seen that port... what year car do you have?? my obd port is trapazoid shaped and next to where my right knee is.
its an 02 GT
That's not the OBD2 port, that is something else that someone added to your car.
yeah what is it
i have an 02 gt, and have no idea what it is. how long have you owned the car?? can you still call the last owner???
no got it from a dealer and its was there when i got it i always thought it was the obd2 port its always blinking when driving and when the car is off
Must be some sort of aftermarket alarm system. Is there a large plastic horn in the engine bay someplace? that's the tell tail sign of an aftermarket alarm system.
no nothing and what would that plug be used for on an alarm
Could be a separate panel that connects to it to change settings? who knows. I would trace those wires and see where they all go. Only way to tell unless you know who owned the car before hand.
looks like one of those old pro lock plugs...i remember a long ass time ago on my parents 88 maxima had one of those things.
can u send a link and what dose the pro lock do
i looked but i couldnt find anything on it...
the best thing to do is to trace the wire bundle and see where it leads you. |
what did a pro lock do

Like everyone said before, just trace the wires back and see where they lead. That's the only way to find out.

That pic the OP posted looks similar to an anti-theft thing the dealer had on my stang when I bought it. The one on mine was a transceiver that would lock the starter until the dealership used their RF fob to unlock it. Dealer told me not to turn the car off on the test drive because the lock would reset. They disabled it when I bought the car but it's still on the paneling near my right knee.. My obd2 port is near my left knee, in case you were wondering |
my OBD2 port is by my right knee and this weird one with the light is by ny keft and i dont have to use anything but the key to start my car so i dont see how it could be a pro lock
I believe that is a plug that connects to an anti-start system for someone who has been convicted of drunk driving. It connects to a breathilizer tube and you have to blow in it for the car to start.
Once your time is up they normally just unplug and leave everything hard wired. |
lmao really they have those?
