Tranny Swap 99 to 98 .. SpeedCal ??
First time Posting , Got a few questions ..
Installed a 99 Manual Tranny to my 98 (Manual).. I understand the Speedo gear is Electronic in the 99 Tranny ?.. and if I connect right now my Speedometer is going to be way off..?? Will the Speed Cal correct this ? Has anyone does this and know what to set the SpeedCal at ? What dip switches should I use if I put 4.10's in the rear end ? Thanks for the help -brad |
Changing transmissions doesn't affect the speedo. The problem you have is your speedo is mechanical and the VSS is electronic on the new trans.

Can you explain mechanical ...
I am thinking when you say mechanical .. As if their is a speedo cable that screws into the transmission ... correct ? But my 98 has 2 wires that connect to the vss unit |
As in, there is a gear on the shaft that drives a gear on the VSS. The later model just has a reluctor wheel on the shaft and the VSS reads directly off that.

I know someone sells an adaptor to do this. Give me a day or two and I will find it. Unless you have not already bought the 99 tranny then skip it and get a T45 from a 96-98 car.
