Default Intake Manifold Swap (mercury)

I have a 1996 Mustang GT and the cheapy plastic intake deided it would be totally awesome to crack on me...I have a buddy that brought over a aluminum intake manifold off of a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. He says he thinks it might fit with some minor modifications, and I'm wondering if it will. I tried to google this but can't find any info on the swap. Do you guys know??? Thanx in advance

PS...I can't afford to do the PI swap now so no need to suggest it

Should work, but I was not aware of an aluminum 2V intake for cars. You sure it wasn't from a Lincoln Mark VIII?

Yeah thats what they put on the Vic's are marquis's before ford swaped the rest of the line up to modulars. 91-95 or so.. I doubt you'll find much on the swap since theres really no reason other than it wont crack, and well its cheap. But it should bolt up..

I know nothing about cars other than when it comes to Mustangs...they're the only car I've followed and done work on...so the Grand Marquis are Vic's??? I've attached a pic of the manifold below. Any comments/concerns/advise would be appreciated

Well you'll have two main problems.
The wires to some of the sensors, since they arent in the same place.
You'll have to work something out for a throttlebody/plenum/air intake.

You can probably use the fuel rails off your car since those dont come in on the right side.

Just for kicks, can you take a pic of the ports? I imagine they have the same ports as NPI heads.

Won't work the intakes top section is totally different. Plus those manifolds flow like garbage. Buy a PI intake for our cars and use that instead.

Doesn't change the fact that the top part of the manifold is different and it flows probably as bad as your stock non PI intake or worse. Why don't you just give this shitty manifold back and get a used PI intake and be done.

That would cost money...and since I'm out of work untill this is fixed...money is something I don't have at the moment...I don't care if it flows shitty...as long as it runs

It looks like you'll have to use the intake gaskets from the Merc but the ports looks close enough to work.

You'll probably have to use the throttle body from the Merc and just ghetto up a air intake.

The Mustang gaskets should work just fine, as the NPI heads were the same, no matter the application and year. Just I'd grab an elbow and see if that helps for the intake tract. If not, a trip to the hardware store to grab some hose clamps and rubber tubing should help.

Where exactly did the manifold crack? Do you think it would be possible to repair with some heavy duty glue/JB weld?

I'm sure the heads are but look at the mating surface around port on the intake.
