Car swap?

Alright guys im thinkin im ready for a change. I have a black 98 cobra but i just found an 05 white gt on the cheap with the tan interior. i love the way the new ones look. ill spray the gt if i get it... should i do it? i may miss my old car..

darkstar 04-23-2009 09:40 PM

fit and finish on the newer ones is great, and i like the shifter position musch better. not to mention being able to make a fair amout over 300rwhp with basic bolt ons i made 307/330 with a steeda cai/bbr offroad x/scott beer custom tune/pypes mid muffler

YoungGun'98 04-23-2009 09:55 PM

this is true from what i hear i guess. i dont think ill worry about the power difference. maybe ill just miss being able to say i own a mustang cobra. plus. i know im going to have to pour money into this to have it how i want. oh well, its a toy(and dd).

However, the fact that the shifter forces you to hit the dash when going into 1, 3, and 5 and is also a remote shifter like those in ricers is a disadvantage.

I'd keep the Cobra. More power potential, while also being a lighter car. Add the MM suspension and you will out handle a S197.

you wanna upgrade then look at gettin a 99-04 cobra, i owned a 96 v6. tell ya what im glad i got a cobra, going from gt to cobra is a downgrade no matter how you look at it. if you like being able to say you have a cobra then stick with a cobra, everyone and their mother has a gt and you may prolly regret it.

Why not just build your cobra?

audikillsbmw 04-24-2009 04:15 PM

Some here may call me crazy, but the fact that your current car is a Cobra is not a reason to keep it IMO. I know that there may be more power potential, but I think the S197's look a lot better. And with a few bolt ons (like darkstar has) they can be torque monsters too. Just my .02 :)

darkstar 04-24-2009 04:37 PM

thank you thank you. mine makes 400+ lbs tq to the tires at 3200 on the 100 shot ;)

audikillsbmw 04-24-2009 04:41 PM

So you just have basic bolt ons + nitrous?

darkstar 04-24-2009 07:36 PM

intake/tune/x/mufflers/100 dry shot it layed 419.8/450

i got it retuned and did cmdp and it picked up 2.5mph in the 1/4 (117.4mph) on street tires

audikillsbmw 04-24-2009 07:51 PM

Nice

Pyrosis 04-24-2009 09:28 PM

didnt even realize i made that mistake, thanks

YoungGun'98 04-24-2009 10:01 PM

alright.. well i got a good zex wet kit that a friend is sellin to me cheap (he bought a turbo for his 4.0) so i'll lay down the numbers if i got an 05. im not worried.. and i do like the looks better. fuck it im gonna do it. this will be badass

audikillsbmw 04-24-2009 10:47 PM

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully I'll be joining the S197 club too :)

I would keep the cobra and spray it. The SN95s look better.
