You should just save up for the new TF 2v heads. Price is $1995. Excellent flow right out of the box.

$2 grand? Maybe for a DIY kit. And that's certainly not even close to what a kit for my current car would cost. Only FI kit available for my car is $20,000. Anyways, not everyone is so hellbent on going with FI. It is more of a challenge to get power with a NA engine, which is what makes it appealing IMO.

That's what aftermarket heads cost around $2,000-3,000 for good heads. Hell ported stock heads go for over $1,000 and don't flow as well.

Patriot has a bad rep for sure, but from what I gather its been fixed all the valve guide problems they used to have.

most reputable companies charge >1500 for port work and require your cores.

the TFS heads cost and extra 500 or so and don't require a core, and a cores usually run you 200+ for a pair

when are these suppose to come out. my car has been down for 7 months. i dont want to wait any longer. trickflow heads flow over 240 cfm, if im not planning on supercharger or turbo do i really need that much flow? wouldnt the LFP stage 2 be enough, they flow at 223 cfm.

Never heard of Lightning Force but MMR makes great stuff. Also, for a little ol' 4.6 that's mainly used on the street, a set of stage 1 heads will be more than adequate. Stage 2 heads start to increase port size to help feed high winding/stroker/5.4/FI combos so on a street 4.6, it kills the low end torque. Not sure how well the TFS heads are going to be for a stock-mild combo, but if you can't wait, look for a set of stage 1 heads.

The TF heads are supposed to come out in March. I'm pretty sure that you can pre-order them now.

theres a mustang here in town that i want to beat. i just bought 4.10 gears and posi rebuild kit, nitrous. car has pullies, diablo chip, aluminum driveshaft, short shifter and flowmaster exhaust. im going to buy ported heads, cms stage 2 cams, and mac long tube headers. would stage 2 be too much for a daily driver? if it is, that would be the only reason i would go with stage 1

Truthfully, the best cams are custom grinds for your specific mod list. And they're only about a hundred bucks more. But if you don't want to deal with that, the best off the shelf "Stg II" cams (at least IMO) are the Stg II cams from Hitech. They get a lot of power from a relatively mild grind. Here's an idling clip after their cams were installed >

Depends on the application. Remember, stock PI cams are better suited for trucks than in Mustangs, especially since they don't even hit 200° of duration. Typical "stage 1" cams will have above 210°, which doesn't kill the low end too much but gives you a decent power band. For the average person, this would be more than enough. Going any higher is completely pointless unless you have a set of heads and headers to take the full benefit of the larger durations. Plus, you also start to trade off some of the low end, which in a daily driver is not desirable. For cams, you need to match your overall combo, not go w/ what's bigger/lumpier/etc.
