Rev Limiter?
So i was driving the mustang today and just barley hit the limiter. Is that bad for the engine at all or did ford set it low enough that it won't do any damage?

It wont hurt anything...You're fine. Its set low enough as long as you ain't banging off of it all the time.

I brought my mom up to 120, she wasn't too happy about that one...
And no, the rev limiter won't kill your car, as long as you don't do it all of the time. I don't know about the S197s, but with the SN95s the rev limiter was imposed by cutting fuel to keep the engine from over revving. This is bad, but too much fuel, ya get knock. Again, as long as it doesn't happen too often (or for too long) you're ok. |
