Default 1999 Cobra question...

Ok i have a 2001 V6 mustang right now, and im looking to purchase a new mustang. I really want a Cobra, but i cant afford an 03-04 cobra. So im looking at a 99, i've heard the have some problems with their HP; they are overrated or something. The 99 cobra are suppose to have 320 hp, so what do they actually have? Is there anyway to fix it? Is it worth getting one? Thanks in advance?

I say ditch the idea of getting a 99-01 Cobra and get an 03/04 Mach 1. The mach is a tad bit faster, looks cooler with the shaker and can probably find one with lower miles since they are newer.

Ford did correct the issue inwhich they recalled the cars for retrofit as the claimed HP was not what the Cobra was putting down. You can call Ford and ask if the Vin # shows it having the recall being done to it. Thats why there was no 2000 Cobra only the Cobra R. I think the Mach 1 is cooler but I will no mind getting a 99 and adding a power adder if mileage was low enough.

Get a 99 and drop a p-1sc and run 450rwhp safely and call it a day. Sure you can get a 03-04 cobra and run 530rwhp with a ported and full bolt ons...but ask the people how they like their gas having to run 60# injectors to make that kind of power. Oh and ask them how traction is with street tires...Ya it's not fun when you just spin 1st and 2nd. Even with nitto's you are going to spin unless you heat them up really good.
