Default weird problem I've been having, can't figure it out

Ever since the long tube header install this started happening, well it was like a week or so after. When I first start the car and back out of the drive way I notice right off something doesnt feel right.. it feels like I'm giving it gas but its not getting any, it kinda tries to die or kinda suffocates if you will lol. If i drive down the road it kinda works itself out and the car is fine the rest of the day. Now this happens on competely random days. For example it happened this morning but didn't happen the morning before. Sometimes I can go a week or so without it happening. What do you guys suggest I check out? Some people said IAC, but I dunno. .doesn't that only control Idle air? Why would that mess it up whenever im giving it gas. Any help is much appreciated!

You need a tune to compensate for the delay in your o2 sensors due to the added length of the LT's and the new position of the sensors. I think this is a common problem. I am sure someone can explain better than I can.

the car has just been tuned lol, thats what i thought the problem was also, so i let it go. about 3 days after the tune the problem has returned!

also im goign to disconnect the battery tomorrow and reload the tune to see if that helps at all.

Coated or uncoated??? Beleieve it or not, this can affect the drivability.... someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but it has something to do with the heat reaching the aft o2 sensors...

coated, isn't that why they delay the timing in the tune though?

Honestly, I don't know that much about headers to make an informed desicion, but I would have to venture to say no.... But then again, it's an uninformed answer

The iac has nothing to do with your problem. it could be a few things. you could have a EGR problem, because some headers still have stuff metal shavings etc... stuck in them so when the car is run that garbage gets sucksin into the egr and F's it up.

next would be lack of heat to the front oxygen sensors. with long tube sit takes the O2 sensors longer to get up to temp.

But i cant really tell from your explaination.

so this lack of heat.. i guess i should let the car warm up for a couple minutes first so they can get up to temp?

I have the same issues and I only have an offroad prochamber. Like, when I start the car up, and drive down my road to the first stop maybe 3/8ths of a mile away, the car sometimes dies when I push the clutch in. Its like, the rpm drop too fast for it to catch it. Is this the same thing you are having trouble with? I mean, after I drive it though, it goes away, but I think I need a tune to help it with the tb/plenum and the offroad pipe messing with the a/f ratio. Any thoughts?

i dont have this problem, maybe im lucky. but does it happen at all once warmed up? it could be an egr problem, i am unsure of this but i believe the egr is only active during partial throttle? so does the problem happen only under partial throttle?

Mine use to do that, problem is only on 01 1/2 up cars... They changed the something or another, and everyonce in a while the car would shut off... it's a cheap (sometimes free) easy fix.. call up your local Ford Dearlership, and they will tell you what to replace.. only takes about 5 minutes.... did mine and never had a problem again

If you do a lot of in town stop and go driving,it's probably carbon build up on the backs of the intake valves. This will cause a lean condition due to fuel soaking into the carbon untill the valves get saturated or get hot enough to boil the fuel out of the carbon. The headers could also, because of higher air flow,be giving you a lean condition that would make the problem more pronounced.Try running some kind of cleaner through the engine or better yet, take the car on a long(two hours or more)drive. My wife's van does the same thing every few months and a couple of one hundred mile commutes to work cleans things up.

the car is not running lean it was just tuned a week ago and the a/f was corrected, and not only that it took 3 1/2 hours to get there so i definately took it on a long enough drive.

One thing you can try, see if this helps at all.... On your next gas tank, go to napa, or checkers, or whatever autoparts store you have, and pick up some SeaFoam engine cleaner... That stuff works like a charm. Throw it in your gas tank, and your car will be happy!!! When my car was running like crap, I threw it in there, and my car just all of a sudden, ran like it was brand new.... my cars an 02, and it has 78xxx miles on it, and I trust SeaFoam, the best stuff out there!!!

I just had the same problem on Sat. The car acted like it ran out of fuel while driving and then wouldn't accept any throttle. No check engine light, but the car wouldn't run. The car sat for about 2 hours while I waited for the tow truck and as soon as he got there, the car started running fine again. The dealer is telling me that some "multi relay" may be to blame. Only thing is, it's over $100. They also said it could be the fuel pump. I'm really not trying to just throw parts at the car. So any help would be great. I just put Mac LT with O/R prochamber. Car ran flawless with great A/F for about 5 days after I put them on.
