Hey...I'm new to the boards. I'm asking this question for my brother he has a 03 GT and he has added a cold air intake (that he got off eBay), BBK 3" X-pipe w/converters, and put two Flowmaster 40's (I think). We aren't real sure what he's got b/c the guy he bought the CAI from told him that it gave him 25-30hp but I told him that didn't seem right so if anyone can estimate how many horses he got we would appreciate it.

i think the cai is at most like 7 and exhaust maybe 10 but that may be pushing it. buy gears i need to asap.

 

hes not much faster than stock. maybe 10 rwhp over stock. if hes lucky. im sure the car feels no faster

 

yeah probably around 10-12 at the wheels, far from 25-30

 

wow really i dont think hes going to be happy to here that he was thinking: CAI 15hp X-pipe 15hp and 20hp for the Flowmasters (that is what we were told). So are you saying hes just got 270hp or 10-12 to the wheels?

he will probably only have about 240 250 maybe to the wheels with those mods. my roommate has a 03 convertible auto with mt x pipe, steeda pullies, bbk cai, slp exhaust. he dynoed at 243 sae

 

Yep the 260 is only at the crank.A friend of mine with a dyno tune, x pipe and a few other mods only dynoed at around 250 at the wheels.

 

cold air kits dont give you any horsepower. the x pipe is the best mod. the mufflers probably arent doing anything either

Myself I don't know a whole lot about cars but since my brother got his GT I started learning more and then I got a 03 V6 and I'm gonna start adding some bolt-ons and then a supercharger one day. I got one more question when you're looking in catalogs and the adds say this part adds 10-15hp thats just to the crank right not a whole lot of that goes to the wheels?

when catalogs say they add power, dont listen to anything. the advertised numbers arent usually even close. even to the crankshaft. before i had a blower, i installed a plenum, throttle body, and steeda cold air at the same time and still barely felt a difference

 

if you want to feel a diff get gears

 

If he gets gears will that effect his warranty? What gear should he get I've read people on here having 4.10 and 3.73 which is the best? One more thing I've seen right many people on here that a plenum what is that? I don't think I've seen it in catalogs and my brother dosen't know what it is either?
