BBK L/T Headers...

BBK L/T Headers...
I have them and there was a big dent on the drivers side header...I'm guessing to squeek by the steering shaft...anyways...I don't see how this would help the flow...I sent the first set back to AM thinking they were damaged and the second set showed up the same way (I was starting to think they had a Chevy guy making these) I called BBK and they said it was supposed to be like that...I just dont see how a tube that is about 50 percent "squished" can actually help flow...anyone else have these headers that AM carries??? And did you notice a performance gain or change in exhaust note???

I have the BBK L/T's as well. Once you get the headers put on you will see how close the steerting shaft is. It really shouldn't hurt performance to bad. I built up my engine and right now i'm putting down 290 hp at the wheels. With the L/T's, the O/R h pipe, and 40 series Flows my exhaust is really loud and I love it.

You are correct, it's there to get by the steering shaft. It's not going to help performace but it is still going to be better over stock or shorties. I could feel a slight difference over stock manifolds-x-catback. You're not really going to notice 10-15 hp too much anyways. Exhaust tone is much nicer also.

Yeah it shouldn't affect your performance or flow that much. But when you said dented about 50% that seems a little much, Mine wasn't notched that bad. Mated with my O/R h-pipe and flowmaster cat-back it sounds like a monster! I really felt the pick up once the ported heads and comp 270's were put on. With basic bolt-ons(intake,TB,plenum) you will feel a little bit of pick up. Not to knock BBK, but Kooks does make a better product, I would have went that route but they were a bit more.
