gears and tune question.
i kno a dumb question and im prolly lazy...just a simple question...
ROUGHLY how much is it to get 4.10 gears + install? and is a tune needed right away? if so, rough price? thx in advance..:t::t: |
uhh i cant remember but i dont think u have a 2005+ so all u need is a speedo correction
so... my gear install was about 300. others have gotten it cheaper, others more expencive, but that is a good amount to assume to pay as far as tune, all you really need is a speedo correction, i did this with a Diablosport handheld. Im sure you can find a cheaper route than a handheld tuner, but it does give you plenty of flexability for the future. |
Everything cost me about $650 including: Motive 4.10s, Royal Purple synthetic, Dallas mustang speedcal, and installation for it all.

If you have a good tuner in the area, then Id just get a chip. If not, then get a hand held tuner so a good shop can email you tunes.
Gear install will be anywhere from $200- $300. You can look at prices for chips and tuners on sites. But Id go with SCT stuff. The other thing you have to consider is a rebuilt kit, which Id get from Randy. |
i was thinking of getting 4.10's myself. ive seen the master bearing kit. im not sure ill need it, but i dont know what its for. anyone think ill need it? i have almost 60k on my 02 gt so any advice?
|
yes you should get it.

If the rear end is apart, change everything. Better to be safe than sorry. I only had 13,5XX on my 06 and I had them change out almost everything.

I have been pondering this idea as well, since most of my driving I do is highway miles and I drive about 80miles highway round trip per day and then 10-15city.
Would a gear change do me any good or hurt me in my mpg's? |
I just got my 3.73s in last friday, and I can tell a big diference in gas mileage.
|
Mine was $700
