Headers suck to install. It is one of the more difficult jobs. I just spoke with a guy today who works at CJ Pony. He installs them all the time. They allow 8 hours for a job, but probably get done in about 6 and that is experienced people.
LT's have better performance that shorties.

Ive done my own longtubes and a few other sets .If you have tools and a lift ,they can be installed in about 4 hours.no kmember dropping needed..
At home figure a weekend.
Most drop their k members to help install them at home.
Shories are a waste of money but sometimes are your only option in some states.
Ive had longtubes for years but just backed up to new bbks shorties.Im getting tired of the work arounds you have to do with longtubes.Even a simple starter install is a PITA with longtubes.

i had a lift so i didnt drop the k member. also i was doing trans work so i swapped them on and off within minutes with the trans off. the hard part was tightening the header bolts down when everything on the car is in place(trans bolted up) . if i were you i would pay a shop to do it

They arn't worth the hassle or the money. If you just want headers to say you have headers then go for it. Aftermarkets don't outflow the stock by enough to neccesitate a change on anything less then a full blown drag car. Spend your money on something else if you really want your money to work for you. I have seen them for a grand or more and there are plenty of better opportunities...unless you have exhausted them all already.

You have no clue on what makes power on a 4.6,if you say stock manifolds are just as good as headers.
